1. WOWY is more in the category "songs they shouldn't play live anymore" instead of can't barely play

  2. completely different vocal style. It's not a criticism. Bono just can't (or won't) sing WOWY as it should

  3. It's not that I disagree with you, the song was better in the old days indeed.
  4. Since Berlin i discovered speeding up can fix Bono's imperfections. As gerard says he has problems with the slow parts. Timing, speed, etc hasnt changed much during Popmart but since Vertigo tour it sounds terrible in my opinion.

Its a beautiful song and they should play it live. But i hope Bono finds a way to make it better. Maybe speeding up like during the ZooTV days.
  5. I wonder how would WOWY sound if it was earlier in the set...
  6. Seems this thread went from "Songs they can barely play" to "Songs that Bono can barely sing" (or at least per some opinions).

But songs that they can 'barely' play, not sure that is an accurate statement. Songs that they might play better if they did more sound check and rehearsal? That - to me - might be a better question.

  7. Band is rock solid. Bono can only control his voice only to a point, which is logical. Technically the band is still improving. I just hope they can relax a bit more on some songs.

Would love a song where the band removes their IEMs and just has fun with the rest of the guys. Instead of worrying to much about their timing, which makes them loose it more often imho. All countdowns, clicktracks, etc I wouldnt want to perform with those crap in my ears. Of course its useful, but fun? I doubt it.
  8. I remember listening to WOWY from the Vertigo Live releases either Communication or u218's live from Milan and I like his singing of the verses there. Has he been singing differently on the 360 tour? Haven't really listened to their performances of old songs

In thosE vertigo shows his voice was clearly much worse than the zoo tv days and he couldn't sing the oh oh oh oh lines or chorus well at all, but in the verses I felt his somewhat hoarse, faltering voice suited the song and added to the angst.

I thought it was quite a good variation, certainly very different to the speed at which he sings the Zoo TV renditions.
  9. I dont agree, only the end is decent. I dont know whats more worrying Bono not able to sing WOWY, or Bono liking the way he sings it now

Dont be fooled, U2 is my only true band

its good to be critical... btw I think they should bring Pride back. Was pretty powerfull this tour so far. Oh wait, this is oftopic
  11. I think "Elevation" has actually been incredibly weak this tour. I was outside Soldier Field on 9/13 when they were soundchecking... I had kept the setlist a complete surprise for myself up until that night at the show. I was ecstatic to hear this SC'd, and was having a blast when they played it live.

Once I listened to it on boots, including the show I was at...it just all seemed very sloppy to me. On the Elevation Tour, it was a fresh song, it opened the show, and it kicked itself off very well, really getting the crowd energized. Vertigo Tour's version had the crowd singing the main line of the song, and the band even teasing the crowd a little bit with the first verse into the chorus...a completely different spin on the song. 360°'s kicks off with an abrupt and awkwardly placed drum fill by Larry, and seems to just sort of powerhouse through itself in the middle of the set. I say either save this one for late in the show, or keep it in the opening 3.
