Once I listened to it on boots, including the show I was at...it just all seemed very sloppy to me. On the Elevation Tour, it was a fresh song, it opened the show, and it kicked itself off very well, really getting the crowd energized. Vertigo Tour's version had the crowd singing the main line of the song, and the band even teasing the crowd a little bit with the first verse into the chorus...a completely different spin on the song. 360°'s kicks off with an abrupt and awkwardly placed drum fill by Larry, and seems to just sort of powerhouse through itself in the middle of the set. I say either save this one for late in the show, or keep it in the opening 3.

Ditch it all the way. Like you said it was good on the previous tours but they have so many better songs

  2. Yeah, really...I can name a few songs from "Pop" that they aren't playing that would excite the crowd WAY more than "Elevation"...LNOE, Mofo...
  3. songs they can barely play, ok lets see...its more how they should be played instead of what they can barely play but here we go...

    erm....

from the wembley show i was at...

elevation either needs to be in a better position or reworked to suit where it is, seems like it was thrown in last minute and wasnt given much thought...

think walk on should be played like it was on elevation tour, sounds weak to me personally and i dont like the real short ending, think it definatly needs to be more elevation style, or at least play like it was on a vertigo show with the emotional solo at the end.

city of blinding lights, band sounds great, but bono when he sings "oh you look so...." just sounds like shouting, and kills it abit, and with the "tiiiiimmmme", same again, just kills a great song abit....

mysterious ways isnt the same without the long solo on the end, gets the fans dancing away.

thats it for me personally. i like with or without you, just needs a long ending i think, like vertigo milan

I've never minded this so much, but then again, it's never really been "sung" in any live performance. Those were usually just moreso shouted than they ever were sung, to get the crowd into it (At least the "Oh! You! Look! So! Beautiful!" part)

I guess it would be interesting to hear as it is on Bomb- that is, sung- but I sort of like the throwing of the arms out towards the GA, the yelling....it's a good moment of the show.
  5. okay, here i go

well, i think that the band as far as instruments go are at their best ever. an example is the qality of the bass in no line. maybe they´re too worried in making it perfect with back tracks and iem´s.

as far as bono´s singing, i think it´s still amazing! his technique is the best ever and if you listen to the first 4 concerts of this tour it was the best since popmart. in no line imo his voice is the best in a record in a long long period.

the problem is, sometimes i think bono holds himself back so he can sing other songs. example is unknown caller from pasadena, he is holding himself for tuf already! also, i don´t know if he takes care of his voice properly! his voice is his instrument so he should avoid drinking and smoking and those shouts he does. maybe more space in between concerts, i don´t know but his voice is very irregular.

also the set can be different to suit his voice more. put gone for elevation and all i want is you for wowy and it´s a huge improvement!!!!

    hahuaha
  6. Songs they can barely play..?

Electrical Storm for sure..let's add So Cruel (if they could, they would have done it..although I like the Hersey-one but that's a far cry from the studio one).

They can play WOWY, I agree with Gerard that Bono messes up the singing. Can't understand how they murdered such a great song.

I'd actually still take ES over WOWY, even if they can't quite play it yet. I'd rather hear an underdeveloped song grow than an older, lovely song played (poorly) to death.

Agree completely. I felt the exact same way seeing it live and then listening back to it later. I'd gladly have sacrificed it in concert for even a more mid-tempo song.
  9. Looking back at the Vertigo Tour also Bullet needs to be added to the list. Hopefully they get that one back to usual standards again
  10. considering what they have done with WOWY in last 20 years I wonder what it is gonna sound like in 2020...

  11. +1

To me Bullet is one of their best songs ever, at least one of the best live songs. Besides it's one of the songs that's more or less worked over every tour. Personally I really like the Vertigo tour versions with the subdued solo, I think it's extremely beautiful. Bring it back!
  12. I noticed a lot of mistakes both with Bono and Edge (and Dallas) in the early shows of the last leg. Edge had the wrong guitar a couple of times in Chicago, Magnificent was kind of a mess a few times and Bono flubbed a lot of lyrics, especially with the new songs. Honestly, I can't say it detracted from the experience for me. I'd rather not watch robots. I think it'd be good if the band felt comfortable enough with their music and their musicianship to play without all the clicktracks and IEMs etc, because I'm not sure whether they're really all that helpful in the long run. I'd trade a less technically 'correct' show for one that was looser and less choreographed.
