  2. In regard to Bono's voice, especially on WOWY, well, the man who first sang it was in his mid 20's. The man singing it now is almost 50. It's simply unrealistic to expect him to be able to sing it to the same standard as he was able to 22, 18 or even 5 years ago. Tony Bennett doesn't sound like he used to and Sinatra had serious trouble towards the end of his singing career. Even Otis Redding's voice probably would have declined and I'm almost glad it never had the chance...

    I think it's more his smoking that's affected his voice than old age ( or smoking and bad singing habits).
    Look at Pavarotti he could sing magnificently into his 70s.

    To me Bullet is one of their best songs ever, at least one of the best live songs. Besides it's one of the songs that's more or less worked over every tour. Personally I really like the Vertigo tour versions with the subdued solo, I think it's extremely beautiful. Bring it back!


    i would be happy to never hear bullet again! EVER! its one song i cant stand by U2, think its aweful. thats just me but im sick to death of hearing it, cant watch one dvd without it spoiling it in the middle!

    I think the Zoo Tour (very raw) and the PopMart (funky) versions of BTBS are great but the album version and (especially) the Vertigo tour versions were relatively weak. I guess I didn't appreciate the removal of the second half of the song (i.e. no "peeling off those dollar bills..."). I think the band made a wise decision omitting it from the first two legs of this tour in favour of ISHFWILF.

    The Edge walking back to the main stage after SBS, leaning back, and just TEARING that first note out of "Bullet" is my favorite shot of the entire PopMart DVD. The song isn't fantastic on the DVD, but I'd agree with the ZooTV one. And the R&H version is nice because the song was fresh, and Edge's solo is a beauty. Everything after ZooTV was just a bit meh.

    I dislike BTBS after the first two verses and choruses (which are great), the middle section is just clunky and Edge's solo at the end has never stood out for me compared to the rest of his playing, he just seems to create a lot of noise. Indeed the rest of the song seems rather blustery and overblown

  10. The first two verses and choruses are great- love the beat, the lyrics, the singing, Edge's guitar line during the chorus but the song goes downhill from there.

    Iit's anticlimatic, which I hate in songs. And Edge's solo on the album version has never done it for me, it goes nowhere and is lackluster compared to his other solo's, seems almost like something any regular uninspired rock guitarist could do.

    But maybe i've never heard a good performance of the song, if there's a standout live version on youtube, it could change my mind.
