I'd say that the synth was way more prominent on Hot Fuss than the other two albums. Sam's town is more of a guitar and drums album, where as Day and Age is more of a whole-band production, they're all using their elements to come together to make great music. I dunno, I just like to see bands evolve, and I think most get better with time, including the Killers.
Well, if Mr. Brightside, All These Things, Somebody Told Me, Andy You're A Star, Change Your Mind, The Ballad Of M.V., Glamorous Indie R'n'R, Believe Me Natalie or Midnight Show are prominent-synth songs, I will now eat my hat. Only synth-songs in Hot Fuss are Smile Like You Mean It (which in fact has a distorted guitar doubled by a synth throughout the whole song), On Top and maybe Jenny.

HF is clearly the most rocker album from the four (Sawdust also counts I think) they've put out so far... Which does not imply it's neccessarely the best one (artistically, musically), that might be Sam's Town indeed.

Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Believe me Natalie are all synth based songs are't they?

When you were young is like a guitar based song

This does make me think back to that NME poll recently where they talked about the top 50-100 albums of the decade, and most of the ones listed are ones I've never heard or heard of, but of the ones that I did, I just thought where were albums such as Springsteen's 'The Rising', ATYCLB etc. Perhaps it's a slight bias, but it seemed like an odd list to me.

Well, I see this decade as one that's setting the stage for the next big thing in music, kind of like the 50s were to the 60s. So all of these new underground bands are doing all of these new things, and making new sounds (Vampire Weekend and Passion Pit, for example) that will probably explode into the mainstream over the NEXT decade, kind of like how Owl City is getting.
So to me, the band of THIS decade will be hard to determine until we see how the next one unfolds

WTF? Somebody Told Me and Mr. B. are probably the less synth-ed songs they have!! (and two of the bests, by the way)

  5. Then why does my brother (who's a Killers nut) keep saying how he wants to learn synth so he can play Mr Brightside?
  6. Have you listened to the song at all?

Bass, drums, guitar. Voice. That's all. The only small synth part is in the bridge, but it's less than 10 seconds (and a small synthed-bass riff played during the verses, that I didn't notice until I listened to the song for the 897345th time). If your brother wants to learn synth, he will have a crappy role in this song hahaha

  7. Oh, I also think Radiohead deserves some mention! They´ve put great masterpieces out thus decade! KidA, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief (underrated) and In Rainbows. They are also in studio right now, so there migh be more
  8. U2 are the band of the decade 3 huge selling albums, 2 of them hugely acclaimed by critics, and 3 of the high grossing tours of the decade (and all time!)

Radiohead are up there too with honourable mentions for The Killers and Muse
  9. Well, as far as Killers vs Coldplay goes, I just gotta say this

^ The Killers did that in 5 years
  10. I forgot Kings of Leon
