1. Agree, Coldplay (or more accurately Brian Eno) deserve to win. Much more that that god-awful Leona Lewis anyway.
  2. I recicled this topic in order to make it appropiate for this year's awards.

    From U2.com

Nominations for the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards have been announced in Los Angeles tonight and U2 are in the running in three categories.

'No Line on the Horizon' is nominated for 'Best Rock Album' - up against albums from Green Day, AC/DC, Eric Clapton/Steve Winwood and Dave Matthews Band.

'I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight' is nominated twice: for 'Best Rock Song' (up against Green Day, Kings of Leon, Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam) and for 'Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals' (along with Coldplay, Green Day, Kings of Leon and Clapton/Winwood).

We'll find out the winners next month. The GRAMMY Awards will be held on Jan. 31, 2010 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Check out all the nominations here.

  3. They'll take at least one I suppose

  4. I can't believe crap like Fearless is nominated for album of the year over No Line.
Whoever thought manufactured tween pop would be a contender for the most prestigious award in the music industry.
  5. how much did atyclb and htdaab got?

  6. HTDAAB singles and album won eight or nine and ATYLCB got seven in two years for singles and album.

I think the Grammys are nothing more than some gigantic promotional machine for the music industry. They cater to a low intellect and they feed the masses. They don't honor the arts or the artist for what he created. It's the music business celebrating itself. That's basically what it's all about.

It was all there: anger, love, forgiveness, family, community and the deepest sense of history... Here was the full power of American music challenging my arrogance. I watched the rest of the show with new eyes. The Grammys invited jazz, country, rock, soul and classical into the same hall. No regard for demographic studies of what would deliver ratings, no radio call-out research-- a mad amalgam of the profound and the absurd and the creeping realization that one man's Mozart is another man's Vegas.

They're about as biased as the reviews and 'news' in NME and Rolling Stone.

Anyone who actually goes by the Grammy Awards dictating music tastes and the greatest music of the year deserves to be laughed at.

It's an interesting article but I saw no mention of Nine Inch Nails who are actually doing a better job than Radiohead at this 'fuck the labels' notion. It's good to see bands like RH and NIN leading the pack but I bet those labels are pissed off big-time. Same as the recent live Coldplay album...Parlophone was pissed about them giving that away for free.
  7. Crazy as rock song? LOL, the most pop song on album is nominated as rock song. But it's as rock as Coldplay song, so I can't be surprised...
  8. geez, Go Crazy shouldnt be nominated. How about GOYB? It charted better, Its more innovatory...much better song. Even Magnificent is ten times better than Go Crazy...

If Crazy is nominated as Rock song, GOYB should be in Metal category
  10. It's Grammy's after all. I wouldn't search for coherency and logic in their decisions.
  11. The Grammy Awards are a load of drivel anyway!!
