1. alright, so it's the holiday season again, and by extension time for Christmas songs. for the sake of adding some lighthearted cheer to U2Start, what's everyone's top ten?

    I'll start:

    1. Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid
    2. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard
    3. The Power Of Love - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
    4. Last Christmas - Wham!
    5. Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade
    6. If God WIll Send His Angels - U2 (it sort of counts...)
    7. All Alone On Christmas - Darlene Love
    8. Step Into Christmas - Elton John
    9. A Great Big Sled - The Killers
    10. A Fairytale Of New York - The Pogues Ft. Kirsty MacColl

    special mentions go to

The Goo Goo Dolls - Better Days
Don't Shoot Me Santa - The Killers

  2. My current favourite is U2's cover of Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) because it is so ridiculously awesome. It makes me sad that he'll never be able to sing like this anymore

  3. u guys are gonna laughed at me but my favourite christmas song is Stuck In The Moment. I always feel like it Christmas already while listening to this beautiful song. Never feel like Christmas while listening to the acoustic version thou My all time favourite christmas song is of course Home Alone Theme by John Williams
  4. Here is a pretty good one, from this year!

    Candy Cane Christmas- Darius Rucker
  5. Thats quite a good list you've composed. My favorite Christmas song is "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by Bruce Springsteen . I love Clarence doing the "Ho Ho Hos" and Bruce cracking up laughing. good stuff.
  6. Oh yeah and another one of my favorites is Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas"

Also my favorite, He played it on the last show of this tour in Buffalo...it was awesome

  8. No way! How cool. Were you there?

  9. I too really like U2's version of "Baby Please Come Home" but The Pogues' "Fairy Tale of New York" is my top pick.
  10. Feliz Navidad, played ten times in a row. Complete with my drunken grandmother dancing around the living room, shaking red cups full of peanuts, insisting they're maracas

  11. I was there for this performance. Man, two years already. Greatest show I've been to, I almost died of a heart attack when Roy Bittan started Jungleland. Santa Claus was a treat.

I would have to think about my top 10 christmas songs, but Fairytale of NY has to be the one. It was also one of my favourite songs as a kid. I didn't get the lyrics at the time,, but who cares. I love Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) too, amazing song and I never get tired of listening to it.

Oh, and the "holiday song" of the year has to be :

Van Zandt is such an awesome songwriter.
  12. Whatever tripe Simon Cowell releases as the X-Factor winner's single. That's all the Christmas chart is about here now.

Seriously, that thing U2 did for Red last year(?) was pretty good.

    Or Slade / Wizzard.
