1. cant find any info in the forums,is the 1980 boy cd `cid 110 90040`rare or worth anything??...the one with no barcode
  2. I thought all those cds of the early albums were released around 1983 or so, even though they have the original album date on them. I'm pretty sure they weren't releasing cds in 1980.
  3. could be right, but it has 1980 all over it............somebody must know if its rare with the number `cid110 90040`

  4. Okay, according to Patrice's site (www.u2-discography.com) this was released in 1986, but someone on ebay is flogging one for ~$90, so (providing someone's willing to pay that) there may indeed be some value in your find.

I thoroughly recommend www.u2-discography.com for checking authenticity and details of all the official releases and the Collect_U2 mailing list on yahoogroups are generally very helpful and knowledgeable also.
  5. no commercial cd's were released before 1982, so no 1980-Boy exists
  6. must be fake
  7. not a fake,mines the same...
  8. The 1980 is probably just the copy write date for the album. I have a copy of Dark Side of the Moon on CD which also says 1973....

Exactly! That's what this date means. It's not the print date/year of the cd, it's the initial release date of the album.
So the date shown on that cd on eBay is nothing more than the year the album was officially released.

And if an album is remastered, this date changes into the date the remaster was released.

BTW, just curious: I understand the fun in collecting collectibles, but a cd with a special or even no barcode at all? The music is still the same..?

BTW 2: If this cd is worth anything is only up to you. You decide what it's worth by paying for the initial price or by deciding to let it go.
  10. some people collect all sorts of stuff,mis- printed cds, autographed copies to!!...
  11. Yeah, I can understand about the autographed stuff.
