1. Just as a fun little exercise, U2freak999 and I both did a mix of a song that I've been working on lately (the show that is). Same sources and all. Wireless sources only with no audience source. Naturally we came to different mixes at the end of the day.

Now--let's hear some people's opinions. Here's the two mixes in a zip file. They are unlabeled for now, let's see what people think without knowing who did what.

If anybody can repost then that'd be really cool if it goes over limit.

  2. dowloading now ..
    interesting mission ..

    will feedback later
  3. Tricky one.
Although i think i prefer source 2 for the volume, it does seem to loose a little on the drum & bass side of things. kinda get's lost in the crowd so to speak.
Both sound good though, which show is it from?
  4. Downloading. Feedback later
  5. Funny little experiment.

I like the second sample a bit better. Mainly because of the stereo image sounding more natural to me. In the first sample, the "location" of some sounds is a little odd. This source seems to have a bit more bass though, which doesn't hurt.

Of course I don't mean to interfere but I would choose for the second source, maybe with a subtle accentuation around 4k and a tiny boost of the lows, and I might consider turning the very lows into mono.

Yeah you're probably right. It's pretty easy to dial up the bass for this. Agreed on mono'ing out the low range.
  7. I don't know anything about ranges or frequencies, but the second source sounds better to me, maybe I would keep that one and boost the bass a bit, otherwise it sounds somewhat flat. But with a bit of bass-boosting, it can rock a lot.
  8. Nah, I've changed my mind. 1st source sounds better, even with the slightly lack of volume. Bono and Adam are much more hearable on the first!
  9. I think the first one sounds the best, but that's only my opinion. Interesting experiment, would love to know where it's from though.

Everyone decides with his own ears what sounds best, but it's easy not to be fooled by different volumes: just use Replay Gain (it makes your flac files play at the same level without affecting the files, i.e. it only adds some meta-information to the files). Then you can really compare different sources.
  11. Close call, but i like the second one better ! Although it can use more Adam / low frequencies imho.

Both great though, had to choose on details. I like Edge high in the mix
