1. There is no live version that beats the studio version (like With or Without You)

  2. I can't agree with you there. I love Bono's "raps" in the live versions.
  3. looks like this won't be the next single, after all. too bad; it should have been the first single. Looks like they're done releasing singles, kinda sad they only released 3
  4. I disagree, the album version is not as good as the song live.

Bono's singing is better live, he sounds less out of breath and the album version lacks the Edge's fantastic 'clicky' guitar line which was a perfect addition to the live performances and really fills out the sound compared to the studio version. Furthermore unlike some of their other songs the live version of MoS doesn't lack any elements that the album version has.

Perhaps the album version could have been better if they developed it more and it went through more iterations. The fact that it was recorded on the very first take just means it could be improved (as the live versions show).
  5. I really think it should have been a single.
  6. From Zooropa, all albums of the group have had a minimum of four singles. The group (and UMG) is tired that none of the three singles have been a hit and have surrendered? it seems....

They have been a hit, just not with the bigger crowd they are aiming for.

This has a good bit of advice: keep trying and maybe you'll hit the target.

I prefer the live version as well. What a terrific closer it was, and hopefully remains, unless they stick 40 after it of course.

  9. Yea, there's just so much power in the live version, it makes a brilliant closer - a true epic.

Nah, doing the same thing and expecting different results is foolish.
They know that and they'll change their tack, the next album will have stronger singles
