I like what was said above- No expectations, no disappointments. I wasn't disappointed with NLOTH, but I expected SO much different things out of it than I got, it took me about a solid 2 weeks to get over the shock of not hearing what my mind had built up. I'm done with SOA. Let me know when it comes out, and I'll be first in line to buy it.

Agree, if your expectations are low you can only be pleasantly surprised.
With NLOTH a lot of fans were foolishly expecting a new AB

I understand, I thought U2 would acknowledge the fans through internet continued their shows night after night, I had expectations of U2360 with setlists varied and the release of many songs never played live and ...... disappointment

    yep that's very good.
  4. A more rockier song than Vertigo? Hmmmm...Is That All. But it's about as comparable.

  5. Electric Co.? 11 o´clock Tic Toc? I think these two might.... Gone and LNOE might be tooo...no?

  6. Maybe they're talking about How To Dismantle...or any album, who knows.

Still can't believe anyone actually cares about charts and being number one. So what, as long as you enjoy it why let others dictate what you listen to?

Yea, Vertigo was a great song, a lot better than most modern rock stuff.
It wasn't a mindless pop rock song designed to be a commercial success, take the excellent verse lyrics for example

''You give me something, I can feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllll, feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllll?''

Top lyrics right there. At least I like Crumbs and can contest the lyrics are stupid.

a lot of people pretty much got it too
  8. I think a good mixture would give a very interesting album. U2 always try to change their sound. for me ATYCLB doesnt sound similar to HTDAAB. To be honest I don't really listen to both albums very often, but when they were released they were killer! I loved them and I still love most of the songs.
I am of the opinion that Pop absoloutley is the most underestimated album of the 90s. The songs are great and U2 sounds raw and natural. I think songs like If you wear that velvet dress, do you feel love and even discotheque wouldn't sound as good as they do if they would have had more time to finish the album.
I think, and hope a litte bit, that we see this kind of effect on the new album.

But the best solution would be two albums. one with the rubin suff and one with the new stuff. and i'd love a third one with the spiderman stuff.
I know this will stay a dream - but a nice one.

I don't like All That You Can't Leave Behind as the next album - I find that one has a good three or more songs on it that sound better (to me). Zooropa and Original Soundtracks are much more underestimated than Pop and those I think work a lot better for what U2 were trying to achieve.
