1. What the hell? LOL bonos mike totally like died.... ahahaha pretty bad song. Jay -Z is not that great. :/
  2. Song wasn't that bad. It was a song of hope. not despair. But I think that Bono's mic was a flop. Off to bed now. Night Night
  3. jayz was ruining the chorus which i liked.
  4. Bono was turned WAAAAAY down in the mix, and Rhianna was having trouble hitting all the notes right on pitch. Don't want to get too critical over a charity single, but....won't be listening to that one ever again.
  5. Well that was crap, who had the smart idea to get Jay Z to sing lead and relegate Bono, Bono! to chorus backing vocals. He never even got to sing a verse! The best things were the chorus (which Bono came up with) and Edge's guitar, which was impeccable as always.

Agree with you chorus and Edge were the only things likable about the song. Would like to hear it as just a u2 song just to really know if its decent at all
  7. Just bought the song on iTunes and it's definitely better than the live version. For one thing, Bono's mic is actually on, which is nice, and he sings a whole verse for himself. I do like the chorus parts when he sings pretty well in falsetto. Decent song, as far as one-off charity singles go...

I thought Rhianna's voice was alot better than that to be honest. That was a pretty weak vocal performance.
  9. What was so bad about that?! We need to remember that it was Jay-Z/Swizz who came up with this in the first place... Yes, Bono and Edge wrote the chorus but still. Anyway, I think it was a great mixture of musical styles that can appeal to a great number of people who will buy/support this single.

*I just bought the iTunes version and you can hear Bono a lot clearer.*

P.S.- I'm a big Jay-Z fan so I'd like it with or without any U2 involvement.
  11. Yay!! They replayed it and I had a chance to see on TV!

I thought the song was allright! It grooves and Edge is Awesome!!
Anyway, I donated tonight and I'll probably purchase the download on itunes!!
Prayers and thoughts for the people of Haiti! Right on to Bono and Edge for getting involved!!
  12. Thought it was a great tune!!

I think we need to stop crapping on the mix and think about the fact that they put good time effort and money into not only "a good cause", but a rebuilding of a nation that needs the rest of the globe to dig deep in such a big loss.

A definite collaboration, where not one of the different genres represented in the song over powered the others. Jay-Z gave something, Rihanna gave something, Bono equally and simply classic Edge - it's not necessarily about having one over the other or overpowering personalities - nice blend of sound and lyrics which touched my soul and pushes me in some small way be part of the helping hand.
