1. My favorite track on htdaab is one step closer, and beautiful day on atyclb.
I wake up to a terrifying, old, alarm clock.
  2. I don't post here much (at all) but I saw this thread title and I agree with it.

I find it funny how a lot of folks really dislike ATYCLB and HTDAAB but are fawning over NLOTH after 3 listens.

Some people are saying it's better than the JT or AB? I am as excited for new material as the next guy but c'mon. That statement is bordering on insanity.

Obviously, you are certainly welcome to your opinion, I wouldn't stifle that, but I think song for song ATYCLB and HTDAAB is just as good if not better than NLOTH.

i think in a few weeks the euphoria will die down and the folks will come to their senses.

Well...JT and AB aren't as strong as everyone thinks, but I believe I'm the only one who thinks so
    Both highly overrated IMHO

And ATYCLB and HTDAAB do rock...but NLOTH is just special...

NLOTH is in top 3, can take top spot soon
  5. I'm partial to both of them.
  6. Nice to see fighters for HTDAAB.

My 2 cents: it has great merit, without a doubt, but is not w my all-time faves.
I enjoyed it when it came out, and there are fantastic stand alone songs... but overall, didn't soak in w me as past others, or have the instant impact NLOTH is making.

I think it boils down to if you prefer Steve Lillywhite or Eno/Lanois. They push U2 into different modes... and I tend to live in the Eno/Lanois/U2 world over Lillywhite's.

But hey, I'm glad it sold 9 million albums and solidified U2 back on top of pop culture. Everybody wins.
  7. Just listening to HTDAAB now and it's really good. I liked it before, don't get me wrong but it seems to have picked up a different quality after not listening for a while. Some great music on there and some really good vocals.

ATYCLB is so filled with love and soul, I love it from the first to the last second. Bono said in The Rolling Stone interview four years ago that this album ór HTDAAB is maybe even better than Achtung Baby or The Joshua Tree at some points, and I completely agree. At some points All That You Can't Leave Behind is better. Matter of taste? Yes. Songs like Peace On Earth, Walk On, Beautiful Day, Grace The Ground Beneath Her Feet, and not to forget Kite, When I Look At The World, Stuck In A Moment, these songs are coming out of my speakers as a musical definition of love. Elevation (a killer live on Elevation, a filler on Vertigo), New York are very very good rock songs. Bono said during the same interview as mentioned before that they wanted to make an 'uncool' album. Well you can say it's uncool because of the subjects (and maybe the sound), but it's uncool in a very positive way.

HTDAAB is actually pretty dissapointing if you have listened to ATYCLB. It's overproduced and that's why most of the songs has lost their power and shine. It still does have some great bits like Vertigo, City Of Blinding Lights, Crumbs From Your Table, Yahweh and Original Of The Species. But songs like All Because Of You, Miracle Drug (except for the solo), A Man And A Woman are very dissapointing and annoying. Their still good if you listen to the music produced these days but it's low on the U2-rankings. And ATYCLB is uncool in a positive way, with HTDAAB I felt U2 was trying to be cool, and as result of that they were cool in a not very positive way. The Vertigo Tour was pretty good but I think it was NOT better than Elevation.

    I disagree with you fucker

  9. HAHAHA, you were practically begging for more ATYCLB songs to be played....guess you got your wish
