1. These two albums beat NLOTH by far IMO. Sorry, but for me NLOTH just isn't that good. I still think that unless they come up with something REAL good in the future, they should've ended with Bomb. The energy, the maturity, the raw passion for back to basics rock, should've been the final note for the boys. NLOTH is basically a step away from that, not a step forward, which is unfortunate, because they promised a massive step forward. I like the songs, don't get me wrong, but to me its far over-rated amongst many U2 fans. I like Boots, Fez-Being Born, White As Snow, (2 that aren't even being played live...) and a couple of the songs from the first half of the album, but not nearly as much as I appreciate their others. There's just something about the whole thing that makes me say NO. It could be the lack of support and appreciation from the general public as well, it's hard to like something when plenty of others are shooting it down. At least Beautiful Day and Vertigo had plenty of fans, and also made many U2 fans. Get On Your Boots made people laugh (which pisses me off, that song is killer).

    Over and out.
  2. Agree as well. ATYCLB is one of their best albums. Together with TJT and AB it belongs to their best work. Same goes for HTDAAB in a lesser extent.
NLOTH is a good album, don't get me wrong, but its sound is somewhat too dark in my opinion. And a song like Magnificent (which is one of their best songs in years) just can't make up for the rest of the album.
The album doesn't really come off the ground after it opens so well with the title track and Magnificent. I expect a blast after those two tracks, but it somehow keeps floating around in space somehow, to be interrupted by GOYB which gives the album another push forward, but then suddenly slows down again until the end. Adding Winter to the regular tracklist and not just to the special edition, would have done the album good.

It's somewhat true that people have a negative opinion about the two albums before NLOTH.
But the same goes for me regarding the Pop-album: I've started learning to appreciate it only since recently.
HTDAAB and ATYCLB were direct hits after the first listen: especially ATYCLB. That album is the only U2-album that has the power to bring tears to my eyes.

  3. I'm tired of this topic

  4. Just about opinions..we can discuss that till the end of the world.
  5. I always find it funny, how dead topics get sporadically revived.

  6. Always better than watching a YouTube-video of Stranded.

    Oops, off topic (...again).

  7. Its okay. I almost puked when I saw that. I miss the days, where they were doing work with Bob Dylan, and B.B. King.

  8. Stop it, or I'll start to cry. How true that is.

  9. Also, theres all the missed opurtunietys. I would give my left nut, to go back in time, and convince U2 to work with someone like Jeff Buckley, or Stevie Ray Vaugh, before there untimely deaths.
  10. Start looking for a knife, I'd say

    Seriously: nice thought!
