Perhaps a little pathetic to admit, but that line alone, knowing the weight it carries in that song with such heavy emotion, could almost bring me to cry. That's a powerful, POWERFUL song.
The way he sings it, it seems so desperate...like he knows he acts that way, he just can't help it. And he always says that he'll never act that way again, but in the end, he always will. Sometimes, it almost sounds like Bono is fighting back tears in the song, which I'm sure he's not...but anyway, the point of it all is, it's not necessarily the lyric that makes the lyric itself great- the delivery is a key part, because it's how you hear that lyric that makes you connect with it.
