I was listening to WOWY today live from Rosemont, 29-4-1987 and thers sum parts in that performance that literally give me goosebumps, thers a few other songs that have the same effect (mainly ZooTV stuff with bonos falsetto).... so i was wondering if thers a certain part of a live performance or a song that you love and gives u that great feeling
The old eightes times when Bono sang "If you walk away walk away, walk away walk away... I will........ FOLLOOOOWWW!!" have always impressed me.
Virtually every Shine Like Stars snippet into WOWY give me goosegumps (specially when followed by Love Will Tear Us Apart, perfect ending for the song).
Huh, and the Break On Through snippet into The Electric Co from 1987-07-15 Madrid is incredible too, shivers all around my back every time I hear it
-The perfect chord hit when Edge comes in on "New Years Day" in the Slane version, "Torn in two, we can be one (Bono holds this note out and they hit the chord- makes my heart skip a beat every time)
-WOWY Rosemont '87, as someone mentioned- specifically the "Nothing to win" line, which Bono takes up an octave, non-falsetto. Only time I've ever heard him do it, it's phenomenal.
-Bono and Edge's shared guitar intro on "All I Want is You", Vertigo//Buenos Aires
-The entire PopMart Sarajevo concert
-Every time "The Fly" is played on the Elevation tour, and the huge slide out of the "you could have it all" intro turns into the boom of the actual song.
-"When the night has no end/and the day yet to begin/as the room spins around... I need your love"- Lovetown Special 1989 (Not sure of the exact date, actually)
-"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" 9/13/09 (Chicago II), when Bono says, "Turn the house lights on, Willie. Let's go to church", and then does a little gospel-like chanting as the crowd noise slowing roars louder as the lights get turned up. Strikes a special memory of when I was there, and this happened.
ZOO TV Washington: Finale of Desire, I have a vision - television!
Zoo TV Outside Broadcast (Houston): TTTYAATW, Bullet The Blue Sky, and Running To Stand Still
Zoo TV Sydney: One/Unchainded Melody into Until The End of The World
PopMart Mexico: Never Tear Us Apart ending in All I Want Is You
PopMart Sarajevo: Fuck The Past, Kiss The Future intro of EBTTRT
Elevation Boston: We Could Have It All intro to The Fly
Elevation Slane: Segue of All I Want Is You into Where The Streets Have No Name
Vertigo Boston: Yahweh
360 Sheffield: Walk On/You'll Never Walk Alone into Where The Streets Have No Name
Any time WIth Or Without You ends with Shine Like Stars and any time One ends with Can You Hear Us Coming - that's what makes the Slane 2001 show so great. Both occur, back to back.
Basically any streets intro. No matter what tour, what concert, what segue, everytime the organs and Edge's guitar come in and the audience cheers (or not) I get goosebumps, and that's not an exaggeration
Yeeaaaah yeah, we'll shine like stars in the summer night, we'll shiiiiiine like love, love, love, love, lo-oh-ove, oh oh oh, oh oh oh, yeah come on love, we'll shine like stars in the summer night, we'll kick the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight, one hope, one blood, with or without you.
Many come to mind, but this might be the one for me. Bono can often be a genius when it comes to improv.
