1. I am making a 4 disc live mix for a good friend of mine. I would really really like to get everyones input. Which versions to use of certain songs, running order etc. also going to use photoshop to make covers. so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. 4 cds

i am going to use soundboard as well as dvd audio rips. i know i wont be able to post it on here but i want this to be the best sounding and best representative of the band.

i am having a hard time deciding on how to start it i really love elevation but i was also thinking of zoo station. any ideas or something totally different?
  3. If you're trying to make the ultimate live compilation, I really think you should start with Streets. 1989-12-31 Dublin might be the best option, or maybe the R&H version
  4. Good point, I should start with Streets then go to probably I will follow. And yes i am trying to make this into an ultimate set.

OK. If you want to do that, I recommend you the combo 1 - Streets (from R&H DVD-rip) and 2 - I Will Follow (from the 1984-11-22 Dortmund bootleg), that's probably the best rocker starting for any possible compilation.

After IWF maybe you can go with someting new, something from PoP or even from the 00's... Maybe 3 or 4 newer songs (I Will Follow - Gone - Magnificent - Elevation ??), and then going back to the 80s with Gloria, Electric Co, etc
  6. great ideas. i just deleted everything on my ipod and but all u2 live stuff on so i can figure some out when i am not sitting at the computer. your ideas are great. please keep them coming!! time to go eat dinner.
  7. I'm curious...when you mix up the tracks from these shows, how do/will you ensure they are at the same/similar sound level and that the segues between each of them are clean? Nothing bothers me more than skips and breaks between live tracks.
  8. error

Well, if you know how to do it, you obviously must. Nevertheless, the transitions will never be seamless or not-noticeable, since virtually every bootleg has a different sounding audience, etc. You can only try to fade one song into the next one and pray that it doesn't sound like crap. But I've done it a thousand times and, although it sounds pretty good, you always notice they're different songs from different bootlegs. But yeah, volume adjustes and fading/mashing the songs is recommended and may give more than decent results

Here's an idea for the first CD:

I'm assuming that you want to stick strictely to soundboard/oficial rips - sounding boots. If you also want to include audience versions (recommended), the selected versions would be completely different

1 - Where The Streets Have No Name (R&H DVD-rip)
    2 - I Will Follow (Dortmund 84)
    3 - Magnificent (Sheffield 09)
    4 - Elevation (Chicago DVD-rip)
    5 - Gone (Mexico DVD-rip)
6 - Electric Co (Paris DVD-rip or Red Rocks 83)
    7 - The Fly (Dublin 93)
    8 - Mysterious Ways (Sydney DVD-rip)
    9 - Beautiful Day (Pasadena 09)
    10 - Desire (Slane DVD-rip)
    11 - I Fall Down (Red Rocks 83)
    12 - Bad (Live Aid DVD-rip)
    13 - Stay (Dublin 93)

(Bad from Live Aid is up to 12 minutes so there's no room for more in a 74 min CD).

I hope you like it When I find some more time I could give you 2 or 3 more different CDs
