    (RE)-recorded?

So we have a studio version of The Fly with HTDAAB style?

It makes absolutely no business sense to rerelease a heavy hitter like AB alongside SOA. Especially when next year will be it's 20th anniversary and they'll have no new albums to release then.

I'd love for the band to realise that Pop isn't that bad after all. Maybe a remaster would do that.

  3. Or at least get them playing a basic live Pop song, like Discotheque, on tour to see the response it would actually draw from the fans, and it would bring them out of their shell, and also bring me into ecstasy....

And Drew, your new avatar is throwing me off- it's definitely taking some getting used to

They did play Discotheque on Vertigo and it sounded like the crowd liked it. And rehearsals of Mofo too - I wonder why it didn't ever get played again. About a remaster of Pop, I would buy it without a second thought if it had the Mofo Underworld Remix. It's never been heard publicly but I would love it if the band got it from them and included it.

Yeah, about that avatar...it was the one I had ages back but I thought it needed some more exposure. I love the location name though...

  5. Yes, Pop was the last truly fresh and innovative record they made.
Hope we see so reworked material on the 2nd discs of the remasters.

Actually, this is the first time this thought crossed my mind: they're doing this on purpose. I mean, not playing any Pop song at all. They want us to get really hungry. After all the criticism they received in the past years regarding Pop, they now want everybody to beg for Pop songs to return. And when they do ... they'll see the warm response they've been waiting for.

  7. If it's an original vinyl from 1991 and not hardly used, it could be from $100 - $200. I've seen vinyls of Aerosmith's old albums going for $400 for Rocks and Draw The Line from 1976 - 1977, and if it's the MFSL gold master, it might be even more because they're not so easy to come across.

Achtung is likely to go the full throttle like Joshua Tree with the DVD and bonuses, since it's one of their biggest if not most popular album. Have you ever noticed with Amazon that used sometimes costs more than new.
  8. Bump

It’s long been expected that the next installment in U2’s ongoing reissue campaign would be the band’s landmark 1991 album Achtung Baby, and today we received some confirmation — via indie rocker/producer John Vanderslice, of all people — that it’s in the works.
This afternoon, Vanderslice tweeted that he was at a Los Angeles studio with engineer Bernie Grundman, mastering his new album with the Magik*Magik Orchestra, before announcing, “They’re remastering Achtung Baby in next room!!” (Shortly afterward, he added, “Any suggestions for witty opening salvos to drop on U2 crew when I barge in on Achtung Baby remastering session?” Charles Bissell, leader of indie act The Wrens, replied: “at some point say, ‘that sounds even better than the real thing.’”)

Of course, U2 has not formally announced an Achtung Baby reissue, so it’s not known whether the album is being remastered ahead of a fall/winter release, or if the band plans to wait until next year for a 20th anniversary tie-in. The previous U2 reissue — a deluxe 2CD/1DVD box set of The Unforgettable Fire — came out last October, although that set was formally announced just a little more than a month beforehand.

  9. thanks Dieder, gonna be best remastered album
  10. I'm excited as long as they don't de-master the sound.
