1. I hope Richard Ashcroft opens a few European shows.

  2. He's releasing an album with his new band soon, I could see him trying to promote the work by opening for U2. The Verve are (were) too big to do something like that, Ashcroft himself is not.

If there were Muse, it would be much much better. I don't mind Snow Patrol but it is not my cup of coffee...

I saw them 5 times last summer opening for our boys, and I loved them more every time - wouldn't even mind if they did it again

I'd love to see OneRepublic opening. Great songs, great sound
  4. Not bad at all.

The Verve, too big to open for U2? Don't think so. If Muse, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, The Killers and even Oasis have supported them, why The Verve wouldn't? I don't think they're bigger or more trascendental than Muse, Oasis or Pearl Jam.

you've got a point. The Verve's popularity has faded since the 90s when they had hits such as 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' and 'Drugs Don't Work'. Muse supported U2 and they are almost huge. Snow Patrol have a huge fan base. Coldplay were one of the biggest bands of the noughties.

They've already earned their legend status. I'm not comparing the bands in terms of quality of music. I'd say Pearl Jam are a bit too big to open for U2, but they did it because they're friends. Yep, Muse did open a few shows for U2, but where? In Northern America, where they haven't had their real breakthrough yet. Also, Coldplay weren't as big as they are now when they supported U2.
  8. Am I thinking of a different band "The Fray" than everyone else is? They make me want to go to sleep...

  9. Well I like some songs from them. But I agree, a lot of their stuff is slow. But its a decent opener. Better than Mickey Avalon (opening for RHCP) a few years back.
  10. since it looks like i'm only gonna be bothered with 1 show, I think i'll wait until the European support acts are announced before booking anything
