I think if the band omits too many of the hits, the show will be a downer for these people and (unfortunately) have a negative effect on the whole vibe of the show. A band like Radiohead gets away with playing anything they want because they play smaller shows and mainly to a devoted fan-base. In other words, there aren't as many "casual" fans of Radiohead as there are of U2 - and Radiohead fans (like me) are a little more obsessive about their band. For this reason, I hope U2 plays as many hits as possible. Come on, admit it. We'll all enjoy it more if they belt out the greats tracks from each album as opposed to Your Blue Room again.

All that being said, they defintely need to rethink the variety of hits they played on the first two legs of the tour. I recall reading a few complaints last October, but I think there was nothing wrong with the set list near the end of the tour (i.e. for the youtube show and the concerts leading up to it) but there needs to be a lot more "substitution" going on. Sunday Bloody Sunday could be replaced with New Year's Day or I Will Follow from time to time while Mysterious Ways could alternate with EBTTRT or The Fly on a nightly basis. U2 has SO MANY great songs and they should all be played at one time or another during this tour.

that´s what i was trying to say... keep the hits that everyone knows and rotate the other songs a bit more for real fans, real fans will get maybe 5 songs they love and the casual will c at least the great hits!

The first hour should be hits-only. Then an hour of obscurities for the casual fans to sneak off early to
  4. The other day I herd "Even Better Than The Real Thing" on a TV show I was watching and ever since then I can't stop listening to it! I really think it would be a great addition to the set for Leg 3!

bring back macphisto and DADDY'S GONA PAY!

  6. They WONT bring back MacPhisto- he's too old for that-, but it would be interesting to see that song performed without the character. Don't know how well it would go over, but you just never know.

yeh ur prob right, bring back late 2008 Emo Bono to sing it then
  8. I'd like to see more Achtung Baby tracks (Zoo Station, The Fly) and maybe playing B-sides and other songs that haven't been played in a long time or ever.

    Two Hearts Beat As One
    A Celebration
    I Threw A Brick Through A Window
    A Day Without Me
    God Part II
    Levitate
    Spanish Eyes
    I Fall Down

Songs that most of the audience aren't familiar with but would go down well. Levitate and I Threw A Brick would go nicely.
