  1. I don't mean to over-excite anyone here, but I came across these articles while browsing the web today.

    U2 & P-McG said they only planned on releasing U23D if the 3D experience became available for home viewing experience. The technology hadn't been released to the public yet, though it was "in development" for the longest time.

    Well, folks- here it is.

    This June, Sony will release the first ever 3D Home Theater Experience. This means the release date for U23D could be in the near future, although knowing our boys and release dates, I wouldn't be extremely hopeful.

    Fact of the matter is, the discussion can start and it won't hurt anybody. The other U23D threads here were pretty much about the movie, and I figured this could be a place to discuss the technological side of things- how they would format certain things to come across the new Sony system, etc. The technology thread and the U23D threads seemed too big of a gap to discuss this in, so I bridged it with the topic.

    What do you think, tech buffs? Will this be a platform that U23D will succeed on right away, or will it be a platform that will go through such rigorous adaptation, the film isn't even worth releasing yet?

  2. Update: One other thing I thought I'd mention, upon reading both articles again tonight...

    It's funny how big that machine looks. I'm sure once that becomes the standard, the machines will slim significantly, much like DVD players, where Blu-Rays are headed (some now are even seemingly paper thin), and eventually...you probably won't even need a reciever for the 3D component, and we'll be telling our kids/grandkids, "I remember back in the ol' days, when you used to have a BOX to watch your 3D in...'
  3. 3D is nothing new. There are already tvs using the technique you linked to. Basically they double the framerate. You will get half with each eye. Bluray support has been announced and the PS3 will get an update.

    There is a chance it will be released but for now there is nothing sure.

  5. The new site u2chile.net noticed an event about "3DTV" and it's technologies where the video on the screens was U23D. The site argues about if the show is ready on DVD or Blu-ray, but there are some talkings about it was just a teaser trailler.


    I actually prefer U23D instead U2360. I will not buy the new dvd of the new tour, I like just 4 or 5 songs. The main reason to buy the next tour DVD is to know the U2's stage coreography, to know exactly where Bono e Edge will be near us in each side of the stage.
