1. Hi all, does anyone know with ref to this show, the Edges solo at the end.....there is another guitarist playing on the solo, it is really distincttive with bends on the string which the Edge never does!.....any light on this?
  2. must listen to that specific version ...

but I would not be surprised to find dallas playing along every now and then ... in the underworld ....
there is other moments that I've heard when bono jokes around, mentioning the names of the guys playing along underneath .. be it synth, extra guitars or drums ... this tour they surely play some extra bongo's now and then from below ...
  3. The solo is played by Edge I think, all bendings/slides are Reigstered Trademark of David Evans for sure. But woulnd't be surprised if Dallas (or even Bono) played the backing guitar (the A, D chords all throughout)...
    But the solo is Edge-ish

PS. Just listened to it and I have to say that, even though I'm sure it IS Edge, the bendings around 4:50 - 5:20 are surprising indeed, not the usual way to play the Bad solo. But it's Edge.
  4. I read somewhere, when Bono played guitar during Bad in London and Cardiff, that the only time he did this before was during ZooTV Milan... So it might be him, but not sure!

Yes, but not the SOLO, as the topic's opener suggested. He (or another person) surely does a backing guitar work (because there's a second guitar -probably acoustic- sounding over there, it can be clearely heard), but not the solo. Bono can't play (and improvise!) that good
  6. ill check the dvd to get a look. Never had any other belief that it was just Edge branching out during a phenominal show.
  7. it is Bono, you can see it clearly in the DVD from this show. one of the few times Bono has played guitar during Bad (the other known time is during the 360 tour in London).

Bono is known for bending the strings when playing his "solo's"/improvs. Other examples are during Dirty Day from Sydney '93, and also at the climax of Gone during the Elevation tour.

Thanks everyone for checking it out. I really like it, think it sits well with the track.
  9. I'm pretty sure most of it is Edge.

    Check out 4:40 onward:

Bono IS playing guitar, but strumming chords, not bending.

Plus, Edge starts bending before Bono picks up the guitar.
  10. Nice video, first time I see it. For the first solo, it really looks like it's the edge. But there seems to be a small but quite hearable Bono solo shortly before 6:00.
  11. Ahhhh awesome! Magical! Fantastic! This is what I miss these days in U2 shows, that sort of great confidence and improvisation the band used to have. Look at Bono at the beginning with all those hundreds of people around him while he's singing, it's rare we see anything like that these days.
