1. You are probably right. Not that into Android. I dont like the oversized rounded corners. But I havent bought the prettiest phone myself

Things I dont like about Android: they began with an open system and artificially added layers to make it more 'close' . Also not to keen on the Google thing. Cant say I ever caught them doing something illegal, but they are getting way big and have the A LOT sensitive info an all of us. I use google daily, but try to give them as little as possible in return

Also I really dont understand why Android is based on a JAVA. I know its not a virtual machine like on the PC, but I just dont understand why to force Java as a language. But I heard it is possible to write apps in other languages now as well.

But I guess that Android is the best system on the market, its more open than iPhone OS, more intuitive than Symbian and Windows Mobile and has bigger support than Palm WebOS, Maemo / MeeGo and other OS's.
  2. Symbian with a great UI will rule all. I enjoyed my time with Android but it was the little things that annoyed me. I don't like that the hardware manufacturers are wacking their own front ends on it. That massively delays the updates (Hero case in point).

The hardware seems to also be poor. Poor reception, poor speaker quality, poor call quality. And thats across the range. Its still a maturing platform and will grow like hell over the next 2 years. Where from there though is anybodies guess. I'll hold on to symbian for it's every day just get down and do it attitude
  3. Hardware issues are beyond Android responsibilities. HTC had its share with reception issues though. But everyone has issues. N900 had the mic-bug and spontaneous reboots. My N95 had the date bug, under a certain circumstances the date and time would go in the future or back in the past. This bug is only fixed a month or two ago! My SE before that shutdown when it wanted too, etc.

Its a shame that these issues are not fixed before launch, but it seems everyone fucks up once in a while
  4. in other news, got new CX300's. Tried the precision ll model but they were crap so back to the standards. CX300's + Sansa Clip + FLAC = god.

    Best little mp3 player ever
  5. I thought the precision II was the improved version :S? I seem to break all earphones in weeks. My record is 2 days. Hate those things.

My cheap Sennheiser hd201 is still rocking though Might pick up some sennheiser inear when they are on sale again. Got CX500 for 22 euro's once. The Sony inears i have now suck terribly

the precision ll were no good. Worse fit, tackier build yadda yadda. Can't go wrong with the standard 300's. Just have to make sure that toddlers and dogs stop eating them on me though

I've had my 300s for...about 3 years now? I have a backup pair still in the box, but the originals are still working. The soft plastic/rubber earbuds just started to tear today. Not bad.
  8. So has the Nexus One been released anywhere? I guess it's not out here in he US yet.

  9. Really? You can buy it direct from google. Dont think any carriers have subsidized it yet though.

  10. I suppose that's what I meant. I don't know much about the cellphone game, but its not released/available to my provider yet. Rumor says it's coming out on March 23rd though. It's available there in Northern Ireland?

Not via a carrier. Only direct from google. I like the idea of getting ghe phonesim free then taking on a rolling one month contract. Expensive paying for the phone up front though
  12. Ger, do you use the Maps on your 5800? I'm having a bugger of a time getting the actual maps on board since the update. Program itself seems grand though. I still keep discovering things for the phone every day. What Apps do you have on it?
