Intresting thing I've noticed. People in the military in non-combat jobs tend to be for lifting the ban, while ones in combat jobs, tend to be against lifting it.
Personally, as someone planning on joining the military, I could care less about the sexual prefrences of the man next to me, as long as he can shoot straight, and do basic first-aid when the shit hits the fan. He comes onto me, he's getting a fist in the face though.
That being said, I dont know about you country, but in the U.S. most military personal tend to come from conservative backgrounds.

I think we are way more liberal here (not only from military perspective) and I see that as a good thing, although things like the gay pride/eurovision disgust me and are not representative for the gay community.
