  1. Probably not for this one as much - if it's $50 or so for all that stuff in there I won't be complaining. But whatever's on that vinyl might just make it worth that.

    I didn't feel after getting the NLOTH boxset it was worth the $120. A book, a film and an album which in total should have cost $50 just didn't seem worth that. I mean, I've got it now and I made the decision so the onus is on me, but stil...if this has all that stuff maybe $60 at the most.

  3. Didn't a petition get the Slane video released though?

    If the final cut is set and done then it probably can't and won't be edited but if not (and from the recordings so far, I don't think I'll miss it too much), there's still time to consider it as a kind of afterthought. Maybe the best idea would have been to have Breathe as opener, but the bonus Breathe could be an alternative angles version which you control or something.

    Breathe should have been on there as the opener but at the moment, it isn't. Its not a big deal - dunno why people are getting their knickers in a twist about this (im not saying you are personally). If it means so much to them, buy the 2 DVD set and quit moaning.

    People must live boring lives if this is all they have to concern them.

    I'm over it and personally don't care now. I haven't had a chance to see the Claw or hear the songs properly so this is as close as I get to seeing it. Plus if I hadn't seen the show and didn't know about the recording then I wouldn't know anyway, so it wouldn't bother me even then. Simple: if you don't like, don't buy.

    I do enjoy a whinge from time to time but nothing to start a petition over. I'd prefer NLOTH to be forgotten soon anyway; once the hype is gone of a different direction and ideas you think ''This album really isn't as good as I thought it was.'' It's the same standard U2 just less rock and more ambient. I'll probably get the 2DVD set as well - after all, the rest of the show bar the NLOTH songs were pretty good, but that vinyl is gonna be a deal-breaker. Whatever is on it (I have a feeling it's an audio copy of the concert) that might actually tempt me to that, although I can do my own rip if I can't afford it.

  8. I only bothered with the one-disc versions of the first three remasters and then JT and TUF were the top-end versions. Those I could go for. The remix albums - I got both the Crazy Tonight and Magnificent ones; I liked a fair few remixes on each, although Artificial Horizon I just didn't bother with.

    Anyway, if it's such a big issue I'll mix Breathe into the beginning of the audio rip I do later on, then I have a nearly-full show given snippets aren't part of the show.

    That's solved then. So what could it be? It's not NLOTH, surely? How long is the concert - like two hours isn't it, and how many songs of 4-5 minutes can you stick on two vinyls? This is why it makes me think it's new songs or at least alternate takes - apart from remixes, which there's more than enough to get and listen to, what else could it be? The band talking about the show? Doesn't seem feasible or interesting enough.

    Are the vinyls in the box confirmed or am I getting excited for nothing?

    I agree with you.Speaking of Slane,Mysterious Ways was left out and added as a bonus cut,for some reason.The band said it didnt.."fit".They did this as well with the Sydney release.Arms Around the World was in the set,aired on the broadcast,but left out of the release.As we all know,Elevation from Boston is cut.Chicago is from 2 nights,05.09 and 10.05.Mexico from the Pop tour, is the only release that is a full complete gig in 30 yrs.
    I also agree with alot of the bitching here about not releasing a European show.The gig from Milan,07.07.09 was the best show from 360.Milan from 2005 was also a great gig,but incomplete.If the band must release a U.S show,I wish it would be from NYC.Im biased on that one of course.
  10. It might make sense for the 7" to be a couple of "new" cuts that are the new material The Edge said they wanted to possibly road test with leg 3. This way, with the vinyl coming out the same day as opening night of leg 3, people can be vaguely familiar with the songs.

    Also, even though I acknowledge that it can be done, vinyl is a bit more difficult to be shared online; could be a potential reason for that.

    Mysterious Ways must fit, because it happens to be on one DVD and in my audio rip as well. It wasn't ever on video was it?

    Popmart is actually taken over two nights, strangely. Keep an eye out for one crowd member blowing bubbles from opposite sides of the stage - although I don't know where the second night of crowd footage comes from. I'm sure I have a few official DVDs where the same thing happens but it's taken from three or more shows of crowd footage.

    13. The Boston 2001 DVD claims on the packaging it is from June 6th, but they perform "Stay" on the DVD which they did not play on June the 6th? What's going on?

    * "Gone" is a mixture of footage from both nights. The main performance is from June 6th, but the ending with Edge smashing his guitar occured on June 5th. The edit can be clearly seen in the "Fan Cam" footage as we switch to a side view for the guitar incident.
    * "Kite" is a mixture of footage from both nights. The intro is from June 6th, but the song itself is from the June 5th performance.
    * "Stay" wasn't performed on June 6th, so that footage is definitely from June 5th.
    * The audio during "Elevation" is from June 6th, however many of the accompanying visuals of the crowd were from the June 5th performance.
    * All of the "Bono Cam" footage was shot on June 9th. That was the only show in Boston in which Bono wore the camera. The "Bono Cam" included a bulky backpack which was easily noticed.
    * "Where the Streets Have No Name" is from the June 6th performance, but the line "Going live to the NBA" and Bono throwing a basketball into the crowd have been edited out of the main DVD. This can still be seen in the "Fan Cam" footage.
    * The bonus footage from the opening night in Fort Lauderdale is indeed from that show, however the audio track is from another unknown concert.



    16. Why were "Mysterious Ways", "One" and "Pride" left out of the Boston Elevation DVD?

    "Mysterious Ways", "One" and "Pride" were left off the Boston Elevation DVD due to space constraints on the DVD format. Removal of these songs allowed the inclusion of both a PCM 2.0 (Normal Stereo) and a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack on the DVD. The band wanted to provide fans with the Dolby soundtrack, so that fans could enjoy the enhanced experience. They did not want to cut down on the quality of the stereo soundtrack to accomplish this, and made the choice to cut songs from the concert instead. Ned O'Hanlon of Dreamchaser Productions, who produced the video, had the following to say: "Regarding the missing tracks. I've noticed quite a few comments about this on-line. A simple decision in the end. Space on the disc is the culprit. The band wanted PCM stereo for Disc 1 and this takes a huge amount of space. Something had to give... "

    The removal of these songs from the DVD was also reflected on the videocassette releases of this show, and the main concert portion of the DVD and the video are identical. Unfortunately, these songs which have been cut from this release are not available on any other official release.[DV]



    8. Why was "Trying to Throw Your Arms Around the World" left out of the Sydney Zoo TV video?

    There are a couple theories on this: 1) it was cut out so the show could fit on a 2-hour VHS tape; 2) it was cut because the girl Bono danced with during that song refused to sign the necessary waivers and releases allowing the band to include her image/performance on the video release; 3) it was cut because the girl Bono danced with was under 18 years old and Bono drank champagne with her on stage.     Easy enough to copy for the more technical among us, but not as easy to rip as a CD or live stream because I don't think computers come with V-ROMS yet. A clean audio feed from a wireless device can also work but then would it still remain lossless even if it was done in 44.1 WAV or at least FLAC?

    I don't know, I'm just saying that to the casual sharer, the band may think that vinyl is a safer way to go to keep the stuff on the DL for a little bit longer than it would if they put new material on a CD and threw it in the box, easy enough for someone to just throw onto iTunes and then torrent for the rest of the world.

    And that's with the 4% chance that this IS new material; I'm just speculating.
