Yep, I'm pretty clueless about the reactions, too. I mean, on this board, the reactions are rather moderate. But other places explode right now as if the band had killed some fans...

Releasing incomplete gigs from Slane, Sydney, Boston, Milan? So what?
Releasing spliced together performances from the above + Chicago and 3D? So what?
No proper B-Sides in years? So what?
15 minute speeches during concerts where they could play 3 more songs? So what?
Stale setlists? So what?
Bono selling Africa? So what?
Live Nation deal? So what?
Same stage concept for years? So what?
Astronomic ticket prices for most seats? So what?
Sponsored tours for years (while the band denied)? So what?
Heartless benefits for fanclub memberships? So what?
Releasing an amputated version of Red Rocks on VHS (without the opner btw.)? so what?
Releasing JT Paris without the opener? So what?

The list goes on and on...

But now they dare considering to cut Breathe, an opener that many people see as the weakest in years?

Burn those bloody bastards.

At least they got something from the fanclub. Hell, U2.com didn't have to give them anything - they could have sent them a bag of hot air. Granted, some of those remixes aren't the best but as you say, so what. You get advance access to ticket sales plus a CD which you can play, keep sealed or flog on eBay. Whatever you wanna do with them.

Red Rocks doesn't have the opener? I thought it was the complete show - it is the complete show on the remaster or not? Ah well, still a good show. Breathe is a pretty weak-arse song anyway - Boots is a far better song and I like it a hell of a lot more. More grunge-sounding and the screen animations are pretty damned cool. Anyway, the video is being released so forget about it - don't want it, don't waste your money. Easy said easy done.

I don't know, I'm just saying that to the casual sharer, the band may think that vinyl is a safer way to go to keep the stuff on the DL for a little bit longer than it would if they put new material on a CD and threw it in the box, easy enough for someone to just throw onto iTunes and then torrent for the rest of the world.

And that's with the 4% chance that this IS new material; I'm just speculating.

Sure, it'll still end up on the torrent sites and wherever else. But it does make it a bit harder from their point of view - plus vinyl gives improved sound so whatever it is, is gonna sound good and actually be like vintage. Plus it might finally get those of us stuck in the CD age and refuse to change, to appreciate the older medium. That'd be nice...to get something different.

Maybe it's selections from the show or soundchecks. Who knows. The anticipation is exciting.

Maybe the 7" vinyl is to fill the horizon singles box set that came out last year. they might have bottled putting out another single.

But on a vinyl which most people might not be able to play? If the radio edit of MoS going around is legit (about 4:15) then that might be the last one.

No no no I mean not everyone has a system on which they can play vinyl. That's what I meant (as opposed to CDs or MP3s or other digital formats).

I get what Drew says. Vinyl players were all over on the 80's; they're not like that anymore, CDs and DVDs have taken the vinyl's place at most houses' living rooms... My parents have their old vinyl (over 20 years!!) player which works perfectly so I'm glad too. We play their big collection of vinyls really often; there are true old gems that are not available on CD, vinyl is the way to go then.
