yeah boy is probably my favourite of the 3 if i had to choose... i think my problem with the first 3 albums is i only like roughly half of each one! each album has some incredible songs and some incredibly mediocre songs so i always find myself skipping through the weak stuff - whereas every album from UF to pop i can listen to and enjoy all the way through bar one or two tracks.
maybe i'll make a playlist in itunes of all the best songs from the first 3 - now that'd be an album!

Boy is right up there. War not so much.

Red Light is a horrible song. It drags my opinion of War right down. And I was also never a fan of Wild Honey.

New York is worse than Wild Honey.
Shit, we've really veered off topic.
Let's agree (ha ha that'll never happen) that there a many songs that should NOT be played...they've had their chance when their album came out and if they couldn't hold their own then, they almost definitely won't now.

First of all, I completely disagree.
Second of all, I stand by the idea that U2 should play "New York" every time they play in New York (East Rutherford NJ, on a stadium tour)...it should be their song, and it should be their special treat for a NY show. Would be a cool little "tradition"

do you think Miami should be played every time they play Miami?
i think it should only be played everywhere ever

It would be funny to tease or to snippet, yes. I think everyone who understood what they were playing would at least crack a smile, as long as they didn't follow through with the rest of the song
New York is a far superior song, in my eyes, though. It's about New York, whereas Miami was just about....was Miami really about anything? I think they just used the city because they liked the idea of it and it sounded cool as a song title, to be perfectly honest.
