It 's just that taste doesn't work like mathematics. Muse is way over the top for me. Too pompous, stagy and pretentious, especially live. But that's another topic.

says the guy on a U2 forum...
  2. I think that they will add some sort of B-stage. Honestly, I can't picture a U2 show without one.

As far as Matt Bellamy possible joining them... you guys have no idea how much I would love that. The only thing is: what would they play? I think it would be a cover of a "classic" or something along those lines. If it comes true, I think that Matt would only play piano, sing a verse and provide backing vocals for whatever they (again, might) play though.

btw, what is the source of the Bellamy rumor?

  3. Interesting, and intriguing because of all of our speculation/prayers for EBTTRT...but this was whipped up in Photoshop in 10 minutes, either way. Nothing official about it whatsoever. About as convincing as everyone who posted "NEW U2 SONG!!!" on YouTube in the months before No Line's release.
  4. I live in North America and Muse hasn't got the publicity that they received in the UK, Ireland, and Europe. However, what I have heard is quite good. I made my own greatest hits package by them not too long ago
  5. I'd be so stoked to hear them play EBTTRT over something like Vertigo or Beautiful Day. Imagine if they played something like, Real Thing, Mofo, The Fly, and Dirty Day? Wow that would be a great day for U2, and U2 fans.

I sort of disagree...something big needs to happen at Glaso. They need another "leap of faith".

Live Aid in '85 took u2 from being someone people may have heard of to something that suddenly was almost a household name, with their next record, "The Joshua Tree", being a MAJOR success and catapulting them even further.

U2's image now- in the eyes of Average Joe Public- is that they're getting too used to being famous, have already sold out, are writing crappy material, and will never be what they once were. If U2 can take an internationally recognized festival- once again- and turn it into something that makes people realize that there's more to them than meets the eye that they're seeing them with at that exact moment- the rest of the 360° Tour and the potential of "Songs of Ascent" could really revive some U2 spirit in the world.

And although I would probably sell limbs and organs on the black market to hear the songs you listed in the same setlist again, I don't think that's going to do it at Glatso. I think it'll make people turn their heads.

    What would you suggest?

  8. That's a damn good question, that I'm semi-comfortable saying I have absolutely no answer to. If you would have asked me in 1985 what it would have taken, I wouldn't have had an answer at that point either- except for "something big." And if you asked me if I thought that what happened at Live Aid would have done it, simply in conversation, I would have said no. But watching that clip is different than talking about it. There's something going on there, something special.

And that's the only thing I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for come Glatsonbury. They have to do what they have to do, otherwise, in terms of a festival crowd, a festival stage, and from a publicity standpoint. Though I will quote Bono himself-

"Authenticity is a word that's often applied to rock n' roll, and authenticity is a word that I don't give a fuck about."

Tbh, I would be rather disappointed in them if they did. Dirty Day which I doubt a festival crowd would have heard, over Vertigo which is one of U2's most popular song.

We really have to see what they play in Salt Lake City in a months time to see if they have brought back the AB, Zooropa and Pop stuff
  10. That poster is bollocks I think. The date should be June 25 and the poster itself is..well..
  11. that poster is one of the stupidest things i've ever seen!

and i think the best thing U2 could do at glasto IS play some of their more obscure 90's stuff - the haters and doubters will be expecting to hear the songs they already dislike U2 for (songs that they have heard on the radio/seen on the tv in the last 10 or so years) - if they pull out some of their more interesting, daring, obscure stuff it will take all the doubters, haters and casuals by surprise and show them there is a different side to the band. obviously i'm not saying they should play a whole set of obscure album tracks and bsides and stuff from passengers but i think the should seriously consider throwing in 2 or 3 curveballs...

i remember back in 97 when they played that amazing version of Mofo at the mtv awards in rotterdam thinking i wonder how many people in that non U2 crowd expected to hear something like that!?! i feel the same about glastonbury.

even if they play some of their more well known but forgotten stuff like HMTMKMKM i think it will still make people think "oh yeah i totally forgot about this song! i actually liked this song"...

i think the worst thing they could do is play a predictable setlist but unfortunately i fear this is what will happen...
