1. Thanks again for the list- I've got a couple of the suggested shows bumped up high on the queue, so reviews will be in for them soon. I'll post another..

    1987-04-29: Rosemont, IL

Fantastic audience source with a great crowd, and some of the most spirit I've heard on the Joshua Tree Tour. Check this one out for phenomenal performances of "Bad" and "With or Without You", in which Bono takes the line "Nothing to win, and nothing left to lose" up an octave, really pushing the emotion of the song as high as I've ever heard it. This variation was very rare; I've only heard him take that line up an octave twice.

I always paid attention for opening and closing nights of the tours - and this is great last show for 2009. Listen to Breathe (Edge had some technical problems with guitar but listen to the part he plays before guitar solo and closing guitar notes - your speakers will explode!), then we have The Unforgettable Fire on which Bono added some never sung (on 360 Tour versions) parts of the lyrics "Come on , take me away..." , Vertigo is partially sung totally different - listen to the verses, Crazy Tonight is energetic as always and last but not least Ultraviolet - one of the best vesions of this song i've ever heard (and i've got almost all U2 bootlegs in my collection) this version is also sung differently and Bono add beautiful "in Ultraviolet..." part before chords - listen to this version and You will love it! (i hope)

It's a great show - for me it's the best one from second leg of 360 Tour.

Thanks for the addition, and for the mini-review...added to my queue, for sure! Great description!
  3. It's nice that You like my "review" - i love to find that different, special moments from the shows - i love to listen to U2 bootlegs - there are so many of them! It's a great hobby for a lifetime!

And my proposition for those who just start to collect U2 gigs is to find Yourself a book called "U2 Live: A Concert Documentary" by Pim Jal De La Para - it's like a holy bible for those who love U2 shows - it's great to have reviews of all U2 gigs (to Elevation Tour in current edition) in one book!

and one more special moment from 360 Tour for me:

    2009-07-20 - Amsterdam, Netherlands - Amsterdam Arena

again Ultraviolet - this time listen to the intro - it's definitly something different - it's longer than usual, Larry add some quiet drumbeat, Edge plays some beautiful sounds - and then Bono sung so strong and loud "And love it won't be looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong..." I love this intro and the rest of the song is of course beautiful.
  4. Oh, yes, the U2 Live is a nice little addition that every bootleg collector should have; if not physically (it's pretty difficult to find, and expensive if you do), you can always download buy it on the spiralstaircase blog Amazon online store

Yeah it did. But this is before the tour got too "scripted" . ahaha I need to download some bootlegs too. Im sick of the usual soundboards and 360 boots. :/

Yep, gotta love some of the LA and Arrowhead Pond bootlegs from the very beginning of the Vertigo Tour, before they really knew what they were doing...

And just hunt around this thread a tad, or read some reviews of shows I've listened to lately via my profile- I had the same feelings you did, and sort of set out on a little bootleg adventure so to speak
  8. Thanks

I'll be downloading these ones next.
  9. Revived:

I'm sorry if this gets a little self indulgent, but I'm sort of excited about the time that lies ahead....

I'm about to hit my 100th show- probably in the next 2 or 3 weeks, I will. When I hit my 50th, I made a big deal of it to myself too, and downloaded a special one for that landmark that I hadn't heard, but knew was awesome. I'm really excited about this one, and I was hoping that I could sort of make 95 thru 100 "the best of what I haven't heard yet". I really, really, desperately need all of your help though.

I'm going to post both my show log and my current queue, so you know what I have on my plate. Right now, my total # of shows plus the number on my queue takes me right up to 90. I'll listen to 5 more random shows, but then I hope for this countdown to begin!!!!

The only idea for a show I have right now is 2005-07-27: Dublin- one of the highest rated 360° shows on the tour, includes "Bad", and has a 5-star sound rating. That one will FOR SURE be in the "final five"

So pleeeeeeease shoot some TOP recommendations on here, and I'll build a 95-100 list from there!!!!

Like I said, I don't want this to become to self-indulgent on my part- and I'm sorry if it is, in which case you don't have to participate- but that's why I revived my old topic and didn't open myself a whole new one- I figure this is a good place for it. I'm going to gather some show dates from previous posts and begin to consider them more seriously for my queue.

    Thanks so much guys!

EDIT: current contenders- please voice your opinions!

    2009-07-27: Dublin
    2001-08-19: London
    1984-10-23: Nantes
    1997-11-14: Miami
    1990-01-10: Rotterdam

  10. It HAS to be 1990-01-10 Rotterdam. A truly fantastic show and bootleg, and a great one if it has to be your 100th show. It also was the last show of the Lovetown tour, and the last show before the radical change that came with Achtung Baby // ZooTV, so.......
  11. For the reasons above 1990-01-10. Although the Miami one is much more fun imho

Also the 27th isnt really a 5 star imo. Decent 4 star, maybe 4.5.
  12. After some consideration, I've decided based on the setlist, the monumentality, and everyone's reviews, 1990-01-10 will be my 100th show. PopMart Miami and 360° Dublin (27th) will also be in the top 5. Still looking for a few other contenders if anyone's interested in making a recommendation. Still heavily considering 2001-08-19: London...been awhile since I've had a stellar Elevation listen.
