    I also disagree with your second sentence. An opener partially sets the tone of a concert so if they nail that one, they're safe for a few songs

  3. I wouldnt mind it at all when they just recycle Vertigo as opener again. It does the job more than well. NLOTH doesnt have an opener song imho.

    NLOTH could still do it I reckon but the band don't have faith in the song. All it needs to be opener is for the band to all come in together and start with 'I know a girl'. No need for Edge's half arsed intro

    lol that intro is just one of the things what is epic about the song. in my opinion. and yes, Hold Me defo needs a comeback. Fuckk yes!

    I agree. When I listen to the album NLOTH is clearly the most elevation/beautiful day/vertigo type song on the album (OK.. GOYB is another but they've already tried that one as a opener).

    And the thing with Edge I have to agree with you on as well. Edge seems to be really giving only a half arsed attempt this tour on a lot of the songs. It has been nice to hear songs that have never been played live like Electrical Storm and Your Blue Room I admit but I just have this feeling Edge from the Vertigo tour would have done them more justice. Just feels like this tour the band hasn't been inspired into recreating the old songs in the same fashion as the Vertigo tour (Kite, An Cat Dubh, Zoo Station Into The Heart, The Cry, Elevation, WTSHNN, Bullet The Blue Sky, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Miss Sarajevo, WGRYWH) and that even goes for Bono too on the way he sings some of them. I guess the only song that has been done well being brought back and recreated this tour is UltraViolet and Unforgettable Fire.

    Who knows what the guys might pull out of the hat when they come back on tour this year though - they might surprise us with something awesome.

    anyway enough fantasizing!

    they are going to open with a song from NLOTH and as i said before i think if they can come up with an amazing new intro then that song would be the best opener on the album.

    have to say though:

    having recently watched a few zootv and popmart shows it made me think - what the hell happened to the amazing mind blowing show openings they used to come up with in the 90's?!?!

    the elevation tour was fair enough as it was seen at the time as a refreshing change and a back to basics show, but the last two tours... my god... - when i saw them on the european leg of the vertigo tour i remember thinking wow pretty amazing stage but could they just not be arsed to come up with an opening sequence?! just walk on to an arcade fire song and start playing.... steady on lads! and although this tour is much better than the last it's hardly anywhere near zootv or popmart standards...

    I was thinking this exact same thing today, i played the Zoo TV DVD and was listening to the Mexico City Concert from popmart yesterday... both openings smack u in the face with a "Hey we r fuking here now" Breathe drum intro didnt really do that for me although it was still pretty good, they need sumthing really out there

    my dream....... Lemon remix plays over the PA, while a giant lemon descends from the middle of the retractable screen. The lemon reaches the floor and opens up with a blinding light spewing out of it...."You can reach, but you can't...."
