  1. After all it might be a good thing if he stepped back from running around the stage and stuff. Could help him being able to sing instead of just speak (eg. COBL on the Rose Bowl DVD)

    He will almost definitely be put on some strong painkillers to numb any discomfort to help with the recovery. In fact, I bet he will be up there on stage still sore but numbed to the eyeballs by various medications. If this helps, it helps. I just don't see Bono being the type of guy taking his time in recovering - he will want to be up there on stage as soon as he can by any means possible most likely.

Bono's complete recovery is the most important thing right now, the docs, band, friends, family just have to get that into his stubborn head, otherwise we won't have any Bono or U2 in the future. I live in Europe but I don't believe we'll see any U2 shows here this year. Given the seriousness of his injury and the time it takes for him to fully recover, I don't see how he's supposed to be fit enough for so many concerts in August.

    i agree with u man. I can picture Bono coming up on the stage, saying: "Everyone has been telling me not to do this... But I told them to fuck off."

    it wouldn't do him any good to get back too early. and I don't want him pumped on pain killers either.
  6. wow, that is truly serious stuff. i'm very upset the North American tour is post-ponned, but I guess I really can't be selfish and thinking of me right now and how much fun I'd have at the concerts...the real concern is getting Bono back to full health.

    I'm devastated that this isn't happening for me in July, but probably not as devastated as the 4 guys are that it won't be happening for them routinely for a month, constantly bringing people such an amazing experience. I'm with you, as hard as it is to say.

    Guess we'll meet someday in the future, Maura.

    We for sure will. It will be truly be better to see them with a fully recovered Bono than one that could've been running around the circle with a cane!

  10. Paralized feeling in the leg is normal with a hernia or a nerve that is hit, so not to worry too much on that. The minimum is 8 weeks, empathizing the minimum. Main thing is that he will become 100%, as you can also easily end up in a wheelchair, so hope he takes his time
  11. wow, i really feel for him.
    i suffered almost the same injuries a few years back after a fall from a roof at work.
    i actually landed on my feet (sorta) and had a compression fracture that put bone chips from my vertebrae in my spinal column. i can tell you, there is no pain med on earth to completely mitigate the pain. i also the sciatic nerve issue, and it is the strangest feeling you'll have. it doesnt hurt, only feels numb until you try and stand. then the pain hits like a kick to the stones. malahide is correct though, for all the discomfort, the sciatic is really the least concern. ( barring serious damage) simple medication resolved the issue within a week.

    i wish bono all the best and a speedy recovery. that kind of injury can be excruciating, not to mention the long frustrating recovery. i nearly lost my mind sitting around, unable to simple things you tend to take for granted.

I said this in the other thread, but I think it's worth mentioning again in case people don't see it...this should mean that they'll be able to reschedule all of their tour dates, so the people in Salt Lake City and the other earlier tour dates shouldn't have to worry about their tour dates getting scrubbed entirely.
