1. Hoping someone will be able to assist. Just wondering exactly how many authentic pressing variations there are for U2-THREE. I have a copy of the very first pressing 12" with the hand numbered sticker. Also have a copy of the gold/brown vinyl supposed limited edition of 100. Are all the various color vinyls authentic? Were they pressed in 1979/80/81, or did CBS press them many years later? How many different versions exist of three and are there any fakes out there that anyone knows of? I know that this is a big ask, but it would be nice to have a definitive reference list of all pressings of this gem.

    cheers

    smouch

  2. Colourwise for 7" vinyls:

"In 1982 / 1983 CBS re-released the 7" Version of Three in a singles pack. These repressings came either on black vinyl or one of several coloured vinyls, yellow, orange, white, or brown. The pressings of the coloured vinyl and the earliest pressings on black vinyl came with a Black Print on Red CBS label."

There is a site here that has a bit of info on the 12" Version. Apparently there being 5 different pressings, only the first is numbered though.

I'll post any more info I find later. Hope this is kind of what you're after
  3. Thanks iTim, I geunuinely appreciate your help. Have recently been seeing numerous colored vinlys on eBay and was just wondering how many were bona-fide or otherwise. A purple vinyl on eBay in the last few days made me a little suspicious as id never seen or heard of it before. Was thinking of attempting to collect the various colored vinyls but didnt particularly want to start purchasing items that are fake,

    thanks again mate

  4. No problem, certainly worth looking into. With it being such a coveted item it becomes one worth faking in the hope someone falls for it.
