1. I would say it was a fake. First off, the 7" label on the vinyl was different. That is the label from the 12" version shown on the ebay picture.
    7" Label was:

    12" Label was:

I'm no expert mind you. I'm not even sure any of the 7" vinyls were numbered, but perhaps a more informed member may enlighten us. I would say if it was numbered though it would have been done in the same fashion as the 12" versions with a sticker on the front.

    -----------------------------------
Bought myself Rattle & Hum on VHS and October on Cassette
  2. Yes, but the ebay one is a gold versrion something, the lower pic is the normal version. Seen already several different versions, how many are out there

Prefer the one with the sticker on the sleeve, but priceless
  3. I was saying that the 7" versions had a different label regardless of colour. U2Wanderer which is generally a good staring point says nothing about a gold version. But like I say, maybe someone with more knowledge will reply
  4. I think the gold / brown vinyls are essentially one and the same. Were they released individually or as part of the 4 play pack? ie; black 4 play, yellow 4 play, orange 4 play, white 4 play and gold / brown 4 play? A definitive list of the authentic 3 - out of control 7" vinyls would be nice. Have trawled the net re same but the best that I can find is the wanderer.org site. Anyone?
  5. My copy of three:

  6. What number?

Rattle and Hum sealed VHS is on it's way

Nothing fantastic but I'm not after all the fancy stuff, just want a nice collection.

  7. 485/1000 - picked it up on eBay earlier this year. First time i had seen one on ebay (i guess there have been others previously) Figured i'd have zero chance of getting it, but i had a go anyway.......

I usually see 2 or 3 on ebay a year but mostly with reserve prices that are never met. I don't have it myself but my mate has a copy that I can look at whenever. Saves me £1200

Living way outta the way in Australia, i figured the only way i was ever gonna see one was to buy one myself. I imagine they're far and few between down this way.

To the best of my knowledge "The GOLD limited ones being offered on EBAY are FAKE". My suggestion (from 20 years of collecting) is 'not to buy this one or understand that if you do this is suspect (IMO). Now what make this look even more suspect is that the sleeve that is displayed with the record has the word 'GRAFOTONE' written on back, which makes it look even more like the first release.

I will / can tell you that the first original version has the markings UTKM on an orange/yellow CBS label. Other than that there are many re-issues of 'Three 7"' most of which came in the 4 play sets in various colours (yellow, orange, white), as mentioned above, or in the original orange/yellow without the UKTM markings with or without either CBS inc/Made in England. HOWEVER THE BROWN WASN'T part of the 4 play pac and is simply a missprimt (to my knowledge there are less than 5-10 of these missprints and i've only seen 1 or 2 come up on ebay in 5-10 years of watching)

Lastly to add additional information the only limited (numbered) vinyl from the early days of production was the first 'Three' 12 inch, and as every U2 fan knows there were only 1000 of these produced with numbering in blue or black pen!

yup. Would be impossible to tell how many there are still in existence. I bet loads have been binned or lost during house moves and similar. Keep yours safe.
