  1. Muse's Resistance was much more consistent than Day And Age, which was basically a bunch of easy mediocre songs. The Resistance has 5 excellent songs: Uprising, MK Ultra, Resistance, USE and Exogenesis (which are 3, but anyway), that means 5/8. Day And Age has ony The World We Live In, Dustland Fairytale and Forget About What I Said (which was a bonus track, not even a regular one!!) as excellent (3/12)...

    Anyway, Matt is much much much much more talented and gifted than Brandon. A solo album of Mr. Bellamy could work (although I hope it doesn't happen ever - MUSE forever), but a solo album of Brandon? I predict another bunch of easy songs with the ocassional brush stoke of genius...

  2. I'm looking forward to Flamingo, you never know, Brandon might surprise us, he's talented and capable enough.

    I hated, like actually full on HATED Day & Age upon first listen. I thought "shit, i waited years for this crap?" but then upon repeated listenings it grew on me, and now it's one of my albums of 2008. still nowhere near as good as their first two, i accept, but songs like This Is Your Life and Spaceman could hold their own with their older classics.

    Resistance, on the other hand... it's yet to grow on me, it's easily their worst in my opinion.

    I disagree, I think Matt Bellamy is very overrated, his lyrics are cringeworthy at best and why all the melodrama? Then he copies Thom Yorke's way of singing (to the point where even Thom Yorke has stopped wailing) and always sounds the same.

    In contrast Brandon's voice is quite unique and his singing is also much more varied than Matt's. Brandon's lyric's are also better, sure they may not mean much, but he writes excellent pop lyrics much like Chris Martin, stuff like All these Things That I've Done, When You Were Young, Smile Like You Mean It, Bling, Human etc.

    The only problem with the Killers was that their subsequent albums were each slightly worse than the previous, however they should be lauded for the fact that they've dramatically changed their sound on each album (which is a creative risk and in complete contrast to Muse).

    The Killers also have done some brilliant covers; Shadowplay and Romeo and Juliet were both better than the originals and even stuff like A White Demon Love Song is so different to anything you'd hear from most bands today.

    I'm not sure how much Brandon contributes musically to their output, but he definitely does most of the songwriting so Flamingo should be ok.
  6. Agree with the post above...I really enjoy Brandon Flowers lyrics and the way he sings...It's something unique in today's world, in my opinion...

  10. The start reminded me to U2 somehow, then the "track" goes down... We'll see, maybe he comes up with an amazing atmospheric album and I have to swallow my words

I love Day & Age - think it's far better than The Resistance and indeed, there's stuff in Day & Age which could be easily be an influence on some elements of the latter album - one example is Exogenesis, which just makes me think of Goodnight Travel Well, except a shitload longer lol. I think Day & Age is the most complete work that Brandon et al have thrown out so far, and definitely the best in my opinion - it has a vibrancy and a freshness which grabs me every time I listen to it - I get the same sort of feeling that I get listening to nearly every U2 album when I listen to it (Day & Age, I mean).

    I like Muse and probably always will, but I get bored of them quite easily these days. The only album of theirs that truly captured my imagination was Absolution, and indeed it's one of my favourite albums ever, but The Resistance did not feel for one minute like a new sound and like any big step along the road from Blackholes & Revelations - it just feels like B&R, Part Deux. Don't get me wrong, I like a fair bit from both albums, but I don't think they've done anything that matches the heights of Absolution as far as the feel and makeup of the album goes. The three are all quality musicians, but I think they've become their own cliches, if that makes any sense?
