1. do they really?! I admit it, I haven't looked up any of the artist performing there well, Muse sure make up for not seeing U2... not completely, but I'd definitely like to be there and see them
  2. Muse headline tomorrow night. Tbh, Muse are really the only good band performing at Glastonbury now
  3. Ah now, I'm hoping Slash will perform well looking forward to him
  4. In case anybody's interested, I'm taking on an interesting project...

I've decided to listen to as many 2010 releases as I possibly can this year. Whether streamed or bought, I want to uncover music that's being made NOW. I feel like earlier decades were graced with some great tunes, and I still believe that amazing stuff is out there right now- it's just not being spoonfed to us.

So I'm going through some massive lists to uncover as many albums as I possibly can, rating ALL of them, and reviewing MOST of them. I'm keeping the list for a huge "Best of 2010" thing at the end of the year, so it won't be live updated for the public to see, but reviews will be posted almost every day. This project has already taken a life of its own- its got me listening to sometimes 5 or 6 albums a day. The entire thing is being documented to some degree on a Tumblr blog set up between a friend and me- Beat Farm Radio. Feel free to follow us/bookmark the page to check up on some music reviews, and DEFINITELY PM me with album ideas- It'd be a great help! I've got the obvious/popular releases pegged, but suggestions are ALWAYS welcome!

    Thanks guys!

  5. That looks interesting, I notice you didn't like Eminem's new album, I did. ...

    I really enjoy:

    No Love (Feat. Lil Wayne)
Love the Way You Lie (Feat. Rihanna)
    The Bonus Track
    Not Afraid
    WTP
    Space Bound
    Almost Famous

Yeah though, a lot of them do sound the same and he sound particularly angry
  6. Going to New York on Wednesday for 5 days, well 6 days but one is a wedding so I'm a bit busy Any stuff anybody would recommend? Any U2 stuff I'm sure my mum won't mind

You seem to pull the most out of your stereo or headphones! Good thing, I like the utterly vastness of your projects.

For this one I'd like to recommend the National - High Violet. If you don't mind some gloom and sadness, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up in your top 5 by December. Exceptional beauty, I'm pretty sure for me it will remain the ultimate release of 2010.

    cheers

As long as you listen to NEW YORK on the way, do whatever you want. I've never been but you could go to a basketball game or something...

Thanks for the recommendation- I loved the song "Fake Empire" from their last album, but never got a chance to hear the whole thing...I'll definitely listen to High Violet sometime soon. I'm picking up the headphones again this week after taking the weekend + monday off, so check back soon and I'll put it in an update for you!
  10. Wasn't really sure where to post this. Anyone know where I should....

My favorite radio station in Chicago, WXRT has a Facebook page and they uploaded this little message....

For as long as U2 makes music, and perhaps, even after their retirement, up-and-coming vocalists will always be compared to Bono. While plenty of singers have certainly deserved the comparison, quite a many few have not. Steven McKellar of Civil Twilight, most certainly does, sounding eerily like the Dublin frontman from the very first note.

Civil Twilight are a three piece rock band that originate from Cape Town, South Africa. Currently based in Nashville, TN. This song, “Letters from the Sky” was the iTunes free single of the week in October of ’09 and is now the centerpiece of the band’s full-length major label, self-titled debut.

They claim that this band's frontman sounds like Bono. I don't really hear it...Do you?
