  1. Loads of comments recently from folk recalling occasions at which they have been bought to tears at a U2 show. Are you one of them?

    I'm certainly not. I didn't get the slightest bit emotional at even my first U2 show. The Aulde Triangle at Croke was probably the closest but that was just pure pride and it could have been anybody on stage and it would have had the same effect. If they had played Bad at Barca 2 then I probably would have swelled up with joy but it wasn't to be and Bad has been shite as of late anyway. I'm not so sure that i'm attached to U2 enough nowdays for them to be able to deliver that emotional hammer blow for me. My fan boy days are over. I was born a decade or 2 too late.

  4. I'd say it's a posibility for the next concert, but it would have to be something seriously special. I got pretty welled up when I heard One form Modena but not teary eyed.

  7. Guess it doesn't count then. Still nice memories... 13 years ago... ruined the recording, though.

    Seriously... I had a bunch of goosebumps moments at different gigs. But never was close to tears or something... Guess I'm too far away from the band emotionally.

  8. Milano 7/7 - at the very beginning, when I saw Larry aproaching his drum set
    Zagreb 10/8 - during BD intro, when Bono recited Croatian poem "Dubravka", the same he recited in Modena years ago.
  9. Emotionally I am nowhere. Goosebumps are few and far between now but nice when they happen. Croke 2 when the rain began to fall at the start of Unknown Caller was nice. Hearing a Streets soundcheck when in the Barcelona GA queue. When the bass drum kicked in during Open Your Eyes. . .
  10. I don't recall crying, but I felt pretty caught up in the moment at both shows, two particular moments stand out -

    - ISHFWILF was absolutely magical at Wembley 1, just felt incredible to see 80k+ people all on their feet singing along without the band playing any part, major goosebumps/lump in throat. I remember at Sheffield it was the song that basically got everyone off their seats where we were (we were sat with some right grouchy bastards lol) - a few times before that, e.g. Beautiful Day, we got close, we were trying to get everyone involved but some weren't having any of it, but when ISHFWILF came on, everyone just said fuck it and got into it.

    - Streets at Sheffield was incredible, seeing the entire place rocking and jumping about; it was great at Wembley being on the pitch, but for some reason being in the seats and seeing the whole crowd in motion was breathtaking.

    However, for all, I don't remember crying - I think I was in too much of a general 'wow' to actually shed a tear lol

  11. Intro to Beautiful Day at Foxboro 1, and then again the next night. Same with the flash during Streets. Couldn't, and still can't quite get over the fact that the band were right there in front of me.
  12. Gelsenkirchen 2005-06-12 // it was my first U2 concert. during One and Streets the tears ran free. simply too much, in a good way.

    Munich 2005-08-03 // my second U2 concert. during Miss Sarajevo, when Bono sang that Pavarotti part, the tears ran free. It sometimes still happens when I listen to that recording, it was extraordinary.

    Barcelona 2009-06-30 // during In A LIttle While, Bono was no more than a few meters away from me. The song means a lot to me, and I could see the emotions on his face. I heard them in his voice, and it brought tears to my eyes. Also, the live chat with the ISS space station, it was too much, couldn't hold back.

    Amsterdam 2009-07-20 // Walk On. it's the most important song ever for me. That night it really worked its magic for me, as I closed my eyes, forgot about those masks and people on stage and just felt the power of that song. Maybe the most emotional moment of the whole tour so far for me, personally.

    Dublin 2009-07-24 // The Auld Triangle. So Irish, so perfect at that place, in that town, in that country, with those people. I sang along and I cried.


    there you go. that's what U2 can do to me, and I'm not ashamed of it.
