1. We lost, our way of playing did not deserve the title.

Yes it sucks, but their are more important things in the world then 11 over payed kids kicking the ball If we won it wouldve been a great excuse for a big party though

Shame of van Bronckhorst to go out of his career as a runner-up but he's had a pretty good career eh? Van Persie was crap but like Torres, he's coming into a major tournament out of form and fitness - Huntelaar should have been ahead of him but that said, the way you were playing meant it didn't really matter who you picked, it wasn't a system for beautiful football and individuals to shine. Anyway, it's over now and we have to all move on and look ahead to 2012! Which at this rate England won't make again lol...

Van Bommel should have been sent out off for multiple fouls in every game lol, just to throw that in like I said to Chris, van Persie shouldn't have been picked as first choice, it shouldn't have been down to him - no form, no fitness. Ah well lol...

Doubt we'll be seeing Sergio for a few days now...?

Agree completely. We can bitch about the ref forever. But the Dutch had the chance to score and when you dont its only a matter of time before the others do.

Everyone here in Holland is bitching about Van Persie. But he was excellent during the preperation when Robben and Sneijder actually passed the ball a few times

I stand by it: Sneijder was terrible this tournament. Free kicks from >35m he tried directly. Just look at the kickoff after the goal... what an egoist. And it has been like this the whole tournament. Yes he scored some lucky goals, but without him we might have scored more. Either way I would've killed him long before if I was his team mate
  3. Shit, this was a huge dissapointment. Congrulations Spain, you played a fantastic tournament and were (slightly) the best side in the final. Must have been a great party there! But we were AGAIN so close. I was so angry that we didn't get the title after so many years

About the ref: he was the worst man on the pitch. Should have given De Jong a red card, made loads of mistakes at both sides. I still think that Heitinga's second yellow card wasn't the right decision. Iniesta made a schwalbe, like he did multiple times. He annoyed the hell out of me And Webb should have given us a corner kick just before the Spanish offensive that led to the decisive goal. Such a shame, because he is a great referee after all.

But in the end, it's not the ref that made us lose of course. It's just football. I'm happy that our team did so well this year to reach the final, which no-one did expect here. I might still go to Amsterdam tomorrow to thank our lads for giving us a great month. We might not have played the most beautiful, but i don't care for now. I'm proud of the boys. Next time is our time...

Yeah - Heitinga's payed for De Jong probably; it wasn't a yellow card. It's a real pity that the goal was preceded by two serious consecutive mistakes made by the referee: he didn't concede the corner, which is unbelievable, and there was a clear Spanish foul right after that, and shortly before the goal. Everybody says the Spanish deserved to win anyway, which may be true. But I don't like it when things like these happen. And yes, De Jong should have been sent out - what he did was silly, and dangerous.

A bad final overall - I enjoyed much more Saturday's match...

All teams just prefer defensive kind of approach. I hate what has now become the Brazilian or Dutch national team.
I can only hope the next WC is gonna be much better...

Yeah I'm serious. It was a great World Cup. I got to see a new champion crowned, got to see the likes of "the regulars"- Brazil, Germany, Italy, France, Argentina etc in the finals. I got to see New Zealand stun Italy, Uruguay as a surprising dark horse, my USA for the first time since 1930 win our group, bad karma come around to France, the heart, passion, and culture of South Africa and their fans. Yeah maybe the final wasn't that great and the regular powerhouses didn't play up to their capabilities, but the 2010 World Cup is better than no World Cup.

And Van Bommel should have been sent out too... That slide from behind when there was no possibility to play ball... 9:5 was yellow card score but red card score had to be 4:2 (Van Bommel, De Jong, Robben, Heitinga - Iniesta, Puyol) not 1:0. It was terrible match. Spain had more chances and were a little better, so it was deserved, but whole championship (except for 2-3 matches) was almost unwatchable. Champions League will be better I hope.

I will say that Diego Forlan has been truly impressive in every game I've seen him in this tournament. What a player.

Diego Forlan wins Golden Ball award. Well done. My favorite player of the tournament.

  8. The whole tournament including Forlan is forgettable. But they had to pick someone and Im glad its not Sneijder.

    Sore loser.

    (kidding)
  10. More sore because I dont have a good excuse to go to the capital to party

  11. Agree with you there. I loved watching him play with those goldy locks.

Only decision that's hard is that we didn't get a corner right before the goal. It was very clear that the free kick of Sneijder was touched. Ah well, that's life

Yeah, that was bewildering. I also think there was a foul (two Spanish against one Dutch, on the right) right after that.
