1. Actually I liked Street 360 much more than the Vertigo and even the Elevation versions. Vertigo is rocky, but it still sounds like a divertissement to me; 100% U2 is something else.

Btw, I love Breathe, even live. But I share the worries on Acrobat live. Probably it wouldn't be a success.

  2. Totally agree. Love the Rose Bowl version.

And WOWY is still strong, it's just sang differently, but beautiful.

I might be the only one, but I could live without One. And Pride. I rather think they are bored playing Sunday Bloody Sunday, not always, but sometimes.

I believe most of the time the classics are boring. Even if One and Streets from the Rose Bowl are good performances for the Vertigo/360 period, they are only average performances if you think about ZooTV, Popmart, or even the passion you could find in it during Elevation.

I think they can't make a show without One and Streets, but they can without SBS or Pride. These are at the same level as New Year's Day, for instance.
  4. Although 1980-1985 is vintage U2, I don't think that any particular pre-Joshua Tree song is a "must play" during their shows - including Pride, NYD, SBS, and I Will Follow. Great/classic tracks, but they don't need to be played every night.

I do, however, feel that Streets, One, WOWY, and even ISHFWILF should (always) be played for the casual attendees (Bono can "fake it" just fine) while the remaining 18 or so songs can be "band's choice" for us die hards.

I wouldn't even mind if they ran out every classic they wanted to play SBS, Pride, IWF, NYD, Streets, Bad, WOWY, ISHF. All are great songs that I wouldn't mind hearing at a show. It's when they consistently run out songs like Stuck and Elevation that i get aggravated. If you're going to play the songs you think the audience wants to hear at every show, at least play the ones that are your best work.
  6. Mofo Please Last night on earth

Very good point. I'd probably be happy, however, if they ended up playing a setlist comprised of everything pre-2000. I don't care what anyone says, songs like Beautiful Day and Vertigo, although good, aren't in the same league as Streets, One, SBS, etc.
  8. new songs to be played for 2010 are

    Mofo
    Mofo
    Mofo

  9. I think people want this to happen so much, they're believing it will. I'm not saying I don't want it to, but people are seeming to think this is a probability. It's been snippeted, and I believe there was at the very least a rumor that they rehearsed it in some format, but look at Drowning Man- full rehearsals, pretty solid set position throughout the fortnight they spent in Barca with it, and not even a GLIMPSE of it on tour so far. You never know what they'll do or not do, and at this point, Mofo is just as likely as them playing In Gods Country in full again- they've snippeted that, too.

Fact of the matter is that I'm not getting my hopes up for it, because I think it's one of those songs that's pretty tour-specific.

(watch, now they'll open the encore with it in Turin and I'll have to eat my hat )

I think they'll crack and play something from Pop but I will, however, be (pleasantly) surprised if it's Mofo - not "popular" enough amongst the masses.

They played Zoo Station, that's what makes me hope...
