How did you get them so quick?
As an old school fan myself of WXRT, I come to you humbly to draw your attention to an impending benefit for Chicago musician Matthew Leone, which will take place this coming Tuesday, July 27 at The Metro featuring my band The Smashing Pumpkins and Kill Hannah.
A good samaritan, Matthew stopped a stranger on the street from beating his own wife and was in return beaten so savagely that he has required 2 brain surgeries to date. Like many musicians, Matthew has no insurance, and I was so touched by his act of heroism and the concern of my friends (who know him well) that I was able to put this benefit together along with my dear friend, Metro owner Joe Shanahan.
I had saved The Pumpkins first show at the Metro in almost 10 years in my back pocket for a special occasion, and I can think of no more fitting moment to honor this young man’s spirit than this benefit to raise funds for his care.
So rather than just put some tickets on-sale, I came up with the idea of holding a raffle, $10 giving anyone a fair chance at a pair of tickets. The high-priced VIP tickets we put on sale sold out immediately, but the beauty of a $10 donation is that either you win your own pair of tickets or in the least help contribute to this young man’s future care.

” Billy Corgan The window for the raffle ends tomorrow, Saturday July 24th at 2pm, so I encourage everyone to buy as many chances as you like. I know that this will be a very emotional return show for me to the venue that is the spiritual home for The Smashing Pumpkins. I can’t believe it has been almost 10 years since I stood on that stage as a Smashing Pumpkin. The last show was 4 1/2 hours long! But I promise this show will be much less an arduous challenge to your karma. In fact, this is an opportunity to only add good points to your already fantastic karma. How do I know you have good karma? Because you are a WXRT listener!
See you at the show!
Thanks and Love, Billy Corgan
