1. So two brand-new songs now, including the first - which not sure if it's been said but supposedly is the song they wrote for Glastonbury.

I'm not really into the new songs, the new opener is Beautiful Day(:?), I'm really into HMTMKMKM but I'm not really sure they will keep it and if they keep it they'll drop Ultra Violet and and can't believe they cannot do an other song instead of Miss Sarajevo which has been the every-night-played-and-boring-at-the-end song of the previous tour. And they'll keep Crazy Tonight (:r) instead of bring in something from Pop and Sunday Bloody Sunday is still in the setlist. And I don't really see if they will change this until friday.

So, that's why I'm disappointed. But after a tour and album like that I'm not really surprised.

Meh I understand your annoyance; I reckon most people here do. But I think your expectations might be a bit misplaced. We look at the set lists and sometimes feel bewildered at some of the songs that regularly appear. When you think about it though, the band are probably quite limited in what they can do.

Compared to virtually every other band out there U2 have a massive casual fanbase and a relatively small hardcore group of fans. Playing to a live audience becomes more difficult and less enjoyable (I imagine) when 90% of the crowd aren't responding to the songs they don't know. Hence you pretty much have to have the 'classics' as well as the recent stuff that people know (Walk On, COBL, Stuck, IALW). Hence their regularity in set lists.

What I don't understand myself is their specific choice of songs that pretty much everyone will know. HMTMKMKM is a pretty well known-song, as would the likes of EBTTRT, Discotheque, The Fly, Stay, MS, Sweetest Thing etc. make such few appearances. TUF is very well known but disappeared for nearly 20 years. They would be in a similar category to the likes of Mysterious Ways IMO.

Part of it is self-expression I guess, hence why MLK was/is in there.

Could be worse though; saw Jay Z a couple weeks back and he was loved by the crowd but only because he was rolling out one hit after another (i.e. generally didn't play the lesser known songs on his albums). How would we feel if all we got was a Greatest Hits tour.....

  4. als has been said it's a song from the spiderman musical.

i like this acoustic song. nice melody, also sounds a bit unfinished. lovely.

  5. on some of the italian sites. but if the lyrics really are 'the flowering rose of glastonbury' (and i sincerely hope not, although i like 'flowering rose', but a song about glastonbury should be kept for that event) I don't think it's a Spiderman song

    Yeh I wouldn't say it's a Spiderman song Well I hope not
  7. well i'm pretty disappointed but at the same time i can totally appreciate that it is only a new leg and not a new tour as someone said...

just seems such a shame that there's SO many great songs that have been completely neglected for years yet they seem content to keep playing pretty much the same stuff they've been playing for whats beginning to seem like forever.

ah well... take what you can get i guess..
  8. I really liked the new song.. it has a nce vocal melody and acoustic sounds very nice... should we name it "I Can´t Wait Any Longer" until it´s released? My only worry is that the wrds sound a bit like a cheesy charity song you know... I am already imagining things like " I can´t wait any longer to help to save the world"... well, I´m glad I could only hear the I cant wait any longer part lol and the rest is just m imagining
  9. Love it, love it, love it. Both of the new songs we've heard sound better than most of the songs on NLOTH, i'm glad the boys are coming back strong. That ballad is epic sounding.

    You naive aussie!

haha must be an aussie thing, it never clicked in my head either.
