1. Cheers to all...

I just bought a copy of U2 Melon Cd (in a cardboard sleeve + with issue of Propaganda number 21) via internet and would just like to clarify if it si genuine so I would really appreciatte if any u2 collectors can help me sort that out

The back side of cd looks fine and has the foolowing written "made in uk by pdo, meloncd210335111 01% IFPI 0453" as any original should have...

It's the front side of the cd, which looks a bit suspicios to me, because the pressing of the picture around the inner circle of the cd is not done as with other u2 cds, that is you can feel as if the picture/label was pressed on the cd (it's like 0,5 mm thick). Are your copies of Melon just like that? - that is, was melon manufactured that way? (because on the outside circle of the cd, I can't feel anything thick (like I would feel if I would press a sticker onto the cd like we do with the bootlegs cd label artwork)

+ my additional question would be: was propaganda number 21 (1995) printed on sort of a glossy paper (I became propaganda member only in 1998) or had more of a "cardboard" feel?

I would really appreciate any answers, since I still have time to start a paypal complaint if neccesary...

Many thank to all in advance
  2. I have already checked u2 wanderer and other relevant sites before the purchase...

I guess I basicly just need some feedback from the people that actualy have the melon.

    Thanks for the reply anyway
  3. I can help you out that the propaganda issue with Melon was glossy.

As for the CD not sure what you mean but it sounds like you have an original....
  4. Thanks for the reply...

I know it's sort of hard to describe (plus I'm not a native english speaker)...

The positions in the cd that I'm reffering to in the 1st post are marked with red arrow (the "inner" one is the one that I'm a bit suspicious)...

I hope the picture might make my question more clear...

    Regards,

Oh, I see what you mean. I'm guessing you think it looks like a CD-R? Well comparing to a picture I saw of it on Google Images, it looks perfectly real.
  6. If that is a scan of your own CD then it looks fine. The main giveaway of a fake is the cover. Nearly all of the fakes come in jewel cases. I highly doubt there are folks out there getting fake cardboard sleeves printed up for the purposes of posing the fakes as legitimate.
  7. Yep, that's the scan of my CD...

I know about the jewel case beeing the main indicator of a fake/bootleged Melon, but I 've also read that there are fakes folating around in the cardboard sleeves...

    Anyway, thanks for your help
