Opening show of ZOO TV (Leg III) setlist:

    # of changed songs: 2

I would post the same for POPMart to Vertigo as well, but this is kind of time consuming.

Good point. I suppose we didn't have these forums back in '93 to complain about the lack of change in the ZooTV setlist. However, that was such a great tour!!!! Popmart was great too but it changed next to nothing over the course of its tour. The Elevation Tour wasn't too bad...it had some rotation.

It seems to me that there's no excuse for them not to rotate their setlist at this point. They have SO MUCH material to work with.
  2. Maybe I've changed and now I'm a boring fan, but I'm a little disapointed with the setlist they played today...

I love All That You Can't Leave Behind but 4 songs is too much. Beautiful Day and one more song would be perfect.

No Line was 1000 times better than Boots live.

If they drop Pride, why not drop With Or Without You?

Miss Sarajevo is not a surprise...

And, I dont' like the sequence of some songs, like Miss Saravejo and In A Little While in the middle of some rock songs.

If they just drop Elevation and add somethings old, and drop WoWY and put Batman instead, I'd be happy...

Sorry for my complaining act, but I had to share with you...And I'm very excited about atteding Paris next month

  3. I feel a good point was brought up about the 360 tour being a wasted chance for some more rock songs with the stage set up.

ATYCLB was great for what it was in its' time. Back in 2000/01 it was U2's back to basics album which reinstated their position as the biggest rock band in the world. The songs worked well in the stripped down Elevation setting where the band was really able to reconnect with their fans, some of whom they had lost with their experimentation of the 90s.

Fast forward to 2009/10 and U2 are now armed with the biggest baddest stage in the history of live music. They have the potential to do almost anything they want live and to add to those songs with the incredible complexity of the stage setup. A perfect chance to go back to playing songs from their earlier large scale productions of zoo tv and popmart.

However what do they decide to do? They play their stripped down basic ATYCLB songs which were supposed to get them "back to basics" on the least basic stage possible. While I like the ATYCLB songs their presence in the 360 set on this stage will continue to baffle me until they are either removed or the tour ends and we can look back on it and possibly continue to view it as a chance missed.

If you want to play the songs from ATYCLB on smaller stages in arenas that is fine with me. They translated well. But they are wasting what might be their last chance for their huge stadium epics from Pop, Achtung, and Zooropa on the stage that they formerly were, and forever are meant to be played.
  4. If there was ever a tour / stage / moment to play a full on, proper version of "Zooropa" (the song), this is it. Seems like a lot of hardcore fans forget about that song. I really think it would be nothing short of AMAZING on the 360 tour. Dream out loud!

I couldn't agree more. Only epics like Beatuiful Day and Elevation (which plays much better live than in the studio) from ATYCLB belong on the 360 stage. Save songs like Walk On and IALW for the car ride home from the show.

then u will have most of the crowd going home thinking FFS they didnt even play WOWY
  7. Serious i Love U2 ther have been my #1 band all my life and always will be. All kidneys aside this stage is ment for songs like Mofo Discotheque and Daddys Gonna Pay for your crashed car, and many more pop and zooropa songs. Why always teas us with snippets of the great songs? Just play them it is what we want . I love you guys common now surprise us with Mofo!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Sad, but true.

Pride and With Or Without You are 2 of my favorite songs, but they are overplayed. A rotation between then would be nice for the fans, in my opinion.

No way, Pride is nowhere near as good as WOWY, I dislike Pride, i'ts been overplayed way too much, I think Bono just likes cashing in on its pro-MLK association.

They should play WOWY but only if they can do it properly. There's nothing worse than seeing a serious song being made a mockery of.
  10. I think U2 realizes they're at a tipping point (again) in their careers: The casual rock music/U2 fan wasn't impressed with the NLOTH album, so the band certainly must realize if they want to hook them to come back (go to the next leg of the tour, buy their next album) they have to cater to those casual fans (ie, the ones that jumped on board with ATYCLB & HTDAAB). As much as the die-hard fans love Pop and Zooropa, and as fitting as it would seem to play songs from those albums under the claw, I can't see them actually doing it because those casual fans would stand there confused while Bono sings about "mother suckin' rock & roll." Believe me, I saw those casual fans standing there in Pasadena with blank stares on their faces when Bono tried to get all 90,000+ excited about NLOTH. The crowd there died. So we can bitch all we want about "they should play this, they should drop that," I just don't think it's going to happen. As we've seen for a while now, this band is all about the money, and would be shooting themselves in the foot by dropping the well-known hits from ATYCLB & HTDAAB in order to appease the die-hards out there. Sure the die-hards matter, but die-hards will buy anything and everything the band puts out. They need the casual fan's to spend their "hard-earned cash on a rock and roll show," so ultimately this leg becomes about getting them to have a good time, hear songs they recognize, and not be bored to tears by some song that they never heard on the radio.
  11. Pride is downright overplayed, imo...

WoWY is somewhat of a wildcard in that it works well live depending on where they put it. If they put it after a somewhat playful upbeat song, such as Ultra Violet, then it works wonders. If played early, it just feels odd...

Also, as much as I like Hold Me Thrill Me, I don't like where they have been putting it in the rehearsals, and I especially dislike the fact that Ultra Violet is being knocked out for it. However, I may be wrong and it may fit very well near the end.

I noticed that earlier posts were talking a bit about the stage and how to best use it, and I mentioned this before, but I feel that they should bring out some Popmart material. Mainly Mofo and Discotheque. I also feel that Bullet the Blue Sky and The Fly would work well too.

Anyhow, I'm excited for this thing to start and hopefully, I can finally attend my first U2 concert when they hit the states.
  12. oh my gosh will they finally lay WOWY to rest. its so dead...especially on this tour...just fuckin kill it already man.
