1. I'm not sure this is a good idea, particularly with Elevation Partners poor investment track record...

Bono Buys Big Stake in Facebook

U2’s Bono is making a huge bet on the success of Facebook.com. Elevation Partners, the private-equity company in which Bono is a partner, has invested an additional $120 million into the social networking site, reports TechCrunch.com. Elevation purchased $90 million worth of Facebook stock in November of last year, and its total investment in the company now stands at $210 million.

It’s hoped that the latest deal will help make up for a series of investment blunders by Elevation, which Bono co-founded with partner Roger McNamee. Last year, the California-based company put nearly $500 million into the troubled cell phone maker, Palm Inc., only to see Palm’s shares plummet. That debacle, as well as other bad investments, prompted the financial journal 24/7 Wall Street to select Bono as “Worst Investor in America.”
