I actually think he has a point.
Don't believe Bono had a facelift though, but i think everyone has his/her opinion and if they want to share it on the forum well then...let it be... Didn't harm anybody...

Correct.
If you don't agree or don't like it, just don't post or say you disagree...
But there are probably also people who DO agree, seeing the number of members we have, so if one or two moderators just think "bollocks, close it!" well... That doesn't seem fair does it ?
(I know i'll get some negative/sarcastic reactions now, but just think about it)

That's not the point.
Point is, when he first opened a topic, it got closed within 1h39 (!) and had to open another topic (this one) to get some opinions at last. (some more than 3 people)

Supporting info, just look at some of the videos from Torino. I love Bono and I love U2 but that whole back thing?

He didn't really ask for opinions, didn't he? Did he say the word "opinions" in that little passage? No. People assumed that the topic was utter stupid (which it kind of was) and he didn't word it probably.
