1. An idle topic, for an idle summer. What do you think are the moments of grace in U2's career? When did they play their best shows?

    My 2 cents:

    (1) The second leg of the ZOO TV tour. Every night should have been recorded for posterity. U2 at their very best ever. A provocative, creative, original, innovative, sharp, and yet already classic, show. An incredible mix of great songs. Bono's voice at its very top.

    (2) Popmart, second leg. Great shows, in great stadiums, with great songs. The Leeds show is probably one of their best ever. Can you ask for more?

    (3) Elevation, second leg. This is a hard time for Bono, and Bono's voice is far from the heights of the 90's. Yet, the band is energetic, and delivers some truly great performances. A nice setlist, with a few songs from Pop, R&H, and AB.

    (4) Vertigo tour, last leg. This is a best of tour, but the band is at the top if its game. They play a brand new single, and some old classics, such as One Tree Hill. Bono's voice sounds great. The best vertigo shows.

    (5) 360 First leg: some mind-blowing shows, such as the Milan and the Amsterdam ones.
  2. (1) Lovetown, late 1989 to early 1990. The 27th is the greatest U2 show ever.

    (2) Bringing back some classics on Vertigo: Gloria, An Cat Dubh, Into The Heart, Electric Co, The Ocean, I Will Follow, Out Of Control and One Tree Hill. Also, Bono's sudden vocal re-emergence on the late 2006 shows and being able to hold the notes on Miss Sarajevo as well as a certain performance in Australia on Beautiful Day and holding the 'touch me' part strong up for 15+ seconds.

    (3) Playing Love Is Blindness on ZooTV, any night and Edge going nuts with the solo.

    (4) The debut of Your Blue Room for a huge fan of Passengers. Even if it didn't sound that great live (ditto Electrical Storm), it's good to know it finally got a run through and people actually know it now. I'm not expecting them to break out Slug or Corpse for the reason of it would just sound weird in the middle of a show, but at least they recognise that album does exist.

    (5) One at Modena 1995, on par with the 1992 Dream On performance by Aerosmith. YouTube it!

Yep, the last shows of the Love Town tour were amazing! Your Blue Room and Slug are two great songs, I agree. Corpse is a nice piece of music; it'd been a while since I last listened to it. U2 should play Being Born - for us fans...

  4. I was therrre

For me....if we're talking "moments of grace", I'm talking about small little "graceful" things that I melt inside for-

    1) On the Elevation Tour, when Bono says nothing before "Kite" except for...."This is Kite." (violins start)

    2) When The Edge looks at either Larry or Adam and it makes him smile on stage, almost as if they're referencing some sort of inside joke or just making a connection. Edge and Bono are together all the time, it's great to see (1) Edge smile and (2) the other members interact too.

    3) The lyric "And it's you that makes it hard to let go" in SYCMIOYO- beautiful change for the single time its' used, Edge sounds marvelous on it, and Bono matches him perfectly.

  5. Well, thanks to many tapers, and to U2start and its crew (thanks!!!), we at least have bootlegs for most of the nights. Who knows whether U2 have good recordings of their own shows.
  6. A chosen few, I believe.

IIRC the band/very reliable sources have hinted that such recordings exist ever since TJT Tour.

Personally, I'd say it's very probable.
  7. Brussels 87 in it's entirety.

'All fucked up' from Milan 92.

The video of the boys receiving an mtv award backstage after a Zoo gig and them all being pissed'

When I think of U2 it's these moments that make me feel proud as a fan.

Fuck! If I were them, I'd mix these concerts, if that's needed, and sell them. For, say, 10 euros each.

To be sure, not a chance they'll do this while they're still active. But maybe when they'll be 70 or so?

    (Right, I'm dreaming out loud.)
  9. They could make some available to the U2.com subscribers!
  10. Or, even better, to the U2starters (with at least 736 posts . OK, I'll stop here...)
  11. Yeah no need to try and get your posts count up! D

    Just postin' and hopin' <3

    What is "AFU 92"?

Got a link to the video you mention, either on youtube or on U2start?
