1. It sounded so brilliant in its early state. Then somebody fed it into a computer.
  2. Maybe so. I still like it as is.

Just seen my prev post. Damn iPod keyboard....

  3. there is an early version of magnificent? where??
  4. Stingray is just a small piece that is ok as it is live. Could be made into a cracking studio instrumental though I think. North Star is decent in my mind, needs refining though for it to become acceptable to be played regularly. I think with North Star, Bono needs to adopt a less in your face singing voice. He called it a love song of sorts, well not many love songs I know are in your face. Get a more "All I Want Is You" voice on.

Glastonbury starts off pretty mad and is a great song throughout. Not sure what else they could do with it to be honest. Although I would say, having only Torino to base my opinions on, it lacks something that you'd want to see every night. Perhaps it's because it's brand new and nobody is singing to the song? Just sounds like when they played Electrical Storm for the first time, feels a bit lacklustre afterwards, like "Is that it?". Could see the crowds attitude change from Glastonbury to Elevation. I don't want to badmouth Glastonbury because I thought on first listening that it was a cracker...

Hopefully someone can decode my thoughts
  5. the solo of glastonbury needs to be like 1min or more long, then it will be epic like the BTBS solo

and they got the ending right in frankfurt "Hey, hey, oo, oo, this love of mine" kinda fooked it in torino
  6. Glastonbury sounds like a "alternative version" of "all because of you"...
I like three songs, but "north star" sounds a little bit forced to me.
Also, "Return of the Stingray Guitar" sounds very good to start a show. Has lots of energy.
  7. Just heard them all once. Right now Glastonbury is top on my list. I feel it rocks!!
I could see myself blasting it out of my car windows as loud as possible so people are forced to listen to U2!! Ha!!
North Star and Stingray are still growing on me...
  8. Does any one know where i can download these 3 new songs?

    Please
  9. Download it from the Turin show. No studio versions available yet.

    I like Glastonbury.

    Alex
  10. After being in Turin and listening to it for many times after that, Glastonbury seems like a very early version, sketch. I don't even wanna know how it sounded in time for Glastonbury.

North Star is much better piece, there is cliche refrain, but it sounds very nice.

The Stingray could become great track.
  11. The new songs and my thoughts at this point...

I like the approach to the stingray-type sound on Return Of The Stingray Guitar, how the sounds lash out from side to side and exactly how when I first heard of the title a few years back that it might sound, but thought it had vocals at least! I wouldn't have it on an album as a proper song, let alone even a single. Maybe a B-side or instrumental opener to any forthcoming albums if more work goes into it. 6 out of 10.

North Star, nice little acoustic number and could easily be the better half of Stuck In A Moment, times ten - and I don't mind Stuck but only in the studio, not live. A nice little tune but nothing groundbreaking. NS could be worked up to be something great if U2 are wanting to spend some actual studio time on it but even more surprised that if this is the song that came out of the Bomb sessions how well it sounded as a demo - but then it was meant to be a real contender for that record. 6 out of 10.

The Flowering Rose Of Glastonbury. Great opening screams - incredible range if Bono can keep those screams - and guitar notes at the beginning as well as a cool solo. But strangely unfinished, which is strange as I say because it was meant to be for a festival. Was it finished or is it just a really demo-sounding song at this stage? It could go somewhere like NS if U2 are actually willing to do more with it and not overdo it. 8.5 out of 10 at this point.

I did laugh a bit when he says about Jimi's club. The flowers and the festival atmosphere in the song - Jimi would be proud.

Now remember I'm only going off a recording, but they sounded good as they can be for early(ish) versions. A bit more work, a bit more polish and boom.
  12. Is there an IEM of Stingray? I would love to have it if so! (And for some reason the torrent won't download for me...)
