1. Earlier today, I was playing guitar with my friend Josh who plays drums. He hasn't heard Stingray yet, but I started playing the riff. He started playing the same exact drum beat that Larry wrote, so naturally, I followed up by shouting the "Torinooooo"s
  2. has Return of the Stingray Guitar ever been mentioned before? this seems to be totally new to me? I don't recall it being mentioned in any talk of new songs
  3. So I think a kind of classic rock album with some heavy ballads would be a cool release for U2. Glastonbury is on a good way to that I think and I like the song a lot. For an acousic version North Star is OK too I think. Both songs stuck in the ear after listening to them two or three times and thats a good sign I think.

That's my point of view, but I think a classic rock album would be to easy for U2 themselves. Too less soundexperiments for Edge all in all, but I'd prefere it honestly.

someone here mentioned it was The Unforgettable Fire leftover...

  5. It certainly is. NS is from the Bomb sessions and was considered as a serious contender for that record, Glastonbury reminds me of the Achtung Baby demos - one of them, anyway.
  6. Apart from being a totally awesome song, I think Edge needs to find a better guitar tone for glastonbury, I think it sounds plain and it needs an extra "kick" or something.

  7. That's very bold statement. Glaston sounds like it was made in 5 minutes.

  8. what do u mean? seems to me they have put a lot of work into that song...

It doesn't sound anything like the Unforgettable Fire to me though? If I were to compare it to anything it slightly reminds me of Even Better Than The Real Thing.

That doesn't mean it doesn't sound like anything from UF. It was probably taken from UF then decorated into what today's U2 music sounds like.

  11. I thought Stingray sounded more like something Edge thought of after getting some kind of effects pedal or something.

Look at Yoshino Blossom and the other one that's on the remaster of TUF they came up with. That sounds more mid-60s to early 70s, like Gypsy Eyes.

It does sound like they put some real effort into it and I think it's gonna go somewhere nice. Should be more guitar and effects on it though.
