I appreciate the skipping of the album version of BTBS - I think it's quite boring compared the ripping version of the Zoo TV Tour.

Yeah, it's just one of those things being a fanatic will do to ya- once you go live, you rarely want to go back.
  3. I rarely listen to the studio albums anymore - just live shows. However, I find myself skipping (or not paying attention when) Mysterious Ways or Pride are played. They seem to be in every show and I find them underwhelming (if that's a word - any Sloan fans out there?). I realize, ironically enough, that they were both omitted from the Boston Elevation DVD.

  6. It's a b-side for me. On the album, it's too slow...and pointless.
Don't kick me out of the Pop-lovers club.

  7. Completely understandable...it's not as low as a B-side for; it acts as that "Hidden Track" on Pop that when I run across again, when listening to the album in full, I'm always pleased to hear again.

"Wake Up Dead Man" is the one on that album I can't make it through. It just doesn't even hold a CANDLE to live, bare-bones performances of the song. It's muddy, crowded, and just a mess on the album, I feel. SATS is occasionally painful to listen to as well, in comparison to the beautiful, aching versions of the song live. Oh well, though.

Agree completely, verbatum. I should add that one to my list.

I generally prefer ALL of the songs on Pop (at least those that were played live) in concert over their studio versions. The shows I was able to download at this site made me appreciate how strong these songs are even if the actual album was not.

Gotta disagree on Do You Feel Loved and If God Will Send His Angels- the studio touches on those are too perfect, and the few live performances didn't do them justice unfortunately. They never got around to perfecting them (which is a shame). Last Night on Earth is like that with me, too- there's some reverb/cool effect on the "give it away" part that just gives it so much depth on the album.

Nah, I thought Do You Feel Loved was quite perfect live actually. A shame that they dropped it. And that If God Will Send His Angels in Las Vegas was almost perfect as well. I still don't understand why they stopped doing a full band version of that song after 1 show.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the chorus for Last Night on Earth recorded on the last night of the album's recording and mixing?

But Last Night on Earth, I love it. The studio version is good but compare it to the live version, that's a different story. The live version is epic.
