1. So I've had this awesome live version of Bad (by quite far the best I've heard to date) for some time now, and there is this unlisted snippet I found nothing on searching through the net. It's something like this:

"looking through i saw (keenan's?)fire...but i don't know where is left for me to go"

The boot in question is the 1985-04-15, East Rutherford one.

Any helpful knowledge or speculation is welcome!

Edit: I would like to stress that it's an absolutely INSANE performance of the song. Even if you don't care about helping me you should listen to it.

    REALLY!
  2. Just maxx bumping atm!
  3. Many of us know this performance, it's the longest Bad ever (known, at least); if I recall right, it clocks over 15min 30sec, doesn't it? Crazy

It has a million snippets too. Nevertheless, the one you're pointing out is not listed anywhere, and I haven't found any song with similar lyrics. Are you sure of what you're hearing? I can't check it out since I'm not at home right now (I'm at work ...chhhhsst don't tell anyone ), but if you can give it another listen and check the lyrics out, maybe we could find the song
  4. Thanks for your reply.

It's quite hard to tell, and I did state what I've heard in my OP. I'll try again.

Oh and it's about 16:30. You are correct.
  5. Basically what makes this particular version so batshit insane is the snippets. They are much more powerful than in any other version.

What I am able to decrypt of the snippet in Q is this:

Part 1 (could be an improvised snippet of its own, it's quite repetitive and lengthy):

Come on down (repeated many, many times; about 13)
I'm gonna stay here... think I'm not gonna go home
Come on down (repeated about 5 times)
...See this is my last night in this town
...Come on down, come on down, come on down
Think I'm gonna have to come back, and see this town
Come on down, come on down,
To the New Jersey "turn/town pike/park" (no idea, could be the name of the venue, quite possibly the first word is "town" ) take me down
come on down, come on down, 'cause this is my last night in town
come on down, come on down, take me down, take me down, take me down, take me down hoo...

    Part 2:

Stirred your fires, looking through I saw Keenan's (maybe "Ke(e)not's"? ) fire. come through/to me, like a wanted/haunted (or possibly "want to sow/other") soul, but I don't know where is left for me to go. Don't know where is left for me to go. Come on down...
Come on down repeats extensively with increasing vocal power. Segues into Ruby Tuesday once again. ~One minute long "Bad riff" session ensues, followed by more "come on down"'s to bring the song towards the outro notes.

    'Fin

About 5-6 minutes in total. Pretty massive.

There! Now I want some answers people!
  6. The part 1 is a improvised snippet dedicated to East Rutherford city, where they had played 3 nights; the April 15th was the last one, hence the Bono comments about it. And regarding part 2... I've searched everywhere for hints of lyrics with that words, mixed up, or straight, sometimes changed some.....but no results. There are no known song (by Google) that has that lyrics on it. I'm sorry We'll have to ask Bono himself

Thanks, but I've been able to figure exactly as much myself. I also didn't receive any results at all from anything close to those lyrics.

In any case I would bet that the second part is a unique, unpublished snippet made by Bono himself for the special occasion, much like the first part but much more resemblant to an actual snippet, such us "Hear Us Coming", or "Shine Like Stars". This is only pure speculation, however...

I was hoping for someone who knows more than me about this. Boy... it's a tough one.
  8. Zoo?
  9. Probably just Bono making stuff up while he's singing, or "finishing the writing of songs live" as he used to put it.
  10. Could be so yeah.

Still , if anyone knows more on the subject I'd be very interested in it.
