1. I completely agree with what Gerard said

+ U2 never did really big changes in a tour did they ? (Although now it's really getting silly, skipping 2 good ones for Ultraviolet)
Btw i believe U2 thinks "We must play the same songs as last night, as it's a different crowd today than yesterday and we must treat them the same" or something like that

Indeed. Look at most of the Joshua Tree tour and ZooTV tours, they barely changed it up at all.
  3. I just looked at the setlist and I noticed that UV and Hold Me Thrill Me were performed. I'm curious to know how that went. I'm guessing Hold Me Thrill Me opened the Encore and then UV was played with the same jacket and microphone right?

Kind of bummed to see UTEOTW and TUF dropped, but still a very good setlist.

  4. It is true, yeah, they've nearly never mix it up at all then as well. But i think the difference at that time was the SIZE of the songs that made those setlists.I mean,if you promote albums like Joshua or Achtung, there's no way you could not play 6 songs minimum from the "newest" album every night, cause they were (and still are) the best of the best. Even during Popmart, they didn't change the setlist at all, still it had easily 7 or 8 songs from the promoted album back then, and also the classics (pride, lookin for, nyd, bullet, one) weren't as "dried up" as they are nowadays. So,i suppose, for a band like U2,it isn't a problem to make THEIR pefect setlist fo a tour,BUT it's not so perfect if the songs don't stand up to the staple spot.

    (hmmm,this was too long...sorry guys!)

Batman opened, and UV looked(and sounded) like this:

  6. Very nice! I think having 4 songs in the encore really adds some substance to the back end of the setlist. Also, UV --> WoWY was always a great combination, imo.
  7. Too bad we don't get anything like this these days:

  8. Hey there's a chance of something like that happening. It seemed like playing spanish eyes was spontaneous during that show, so you never know. Just don't expect any fancy lighting, etc, if they decide to play an old song out of the blue.
  9. Hmmm I love the encore! But even the Rolling Stones (the stereotypical band that never changes the setlist) on the last tour had their setlists switched up more at the venues that had several nights.

If your point is that they didn't changed it in the past because they played 6-7-8 songs from the new album you maybe have a point.
It's strange that they only play 4 (FOUR) songs from NLOTH...
Ok the album didnt get very good reactions, but imo, playing them live and adding something extra to them could get the album to a higher level...
So if they drop the songs, they don't quite believe in their new work do they...

EDIT : I'm going off topic again

Transition between HMTMKMKM and UV was nothing special, too bad
  11. I think this people need to check the setlist of POPMart and ZOO TV.Allways the same.
