1. I don't know, Nicole, why are you?

I did, once upon a time, have a penchant for holding up bars on my own, but then I realised it's much more fun in the company of others I'm also skint, so the chances of me coughing up £2.50+ for a pint are slim...that and my local's crap lol.
  2. I just wrote something in 2 different topics before find the right one...

    Going to bed now...
  3. Thank you all who congrated me. Thanks alot
  4. I am. Again
  5. Poor Gerard lol, who did it?
  6. happy (much belated) birthday to you, Sergio sounds like you had some kind of a party

and hell yeah, this is the best topic to read for a non-drinking person, love it
  7. Probably should have been in here last night after celebrating my Grandfathers life, but just fell into bed at the end of it great night singing his favourite songs and telling stories about him..

Funny thing is that he was a pioneer (Pioneers are people who don't drink for people who aren't familiar with the term )

I can tell he was a good man. One of my pints was dedicated to him.
  9. He was indeed :') Haha thanks Gerard
  10. I too am curious as to whom other than Irish people get drunk on a Tuesday.

Scratch that actually - read Sergio's posts (proper way to send off your teenage years by the way ) but I've never really discussed drinking in depth with people from other cultures (other than establish that I seemingly generally drink a lot more than they do).

What are your views on drink/ getting drunk and would they differ much from the culture (country if you will) that you've grown up in?

Also, if you're open to the idea, when and what was your first alcoholic beverage and again would this differ from the norm in your country?

Same thought's crossed my mind before. Most of my university gets drunk on a Tuesday night, but that's because Tuesdays and Saturdays are when they host student nights on campus in the purpose built venue we have. UEA's one of the few unis in the UK with this kind of thing as far as I'm aware, and we're damned sure we make the most of it lol.

I mean, you being from Dublin and my being from England, I'm feeling safe in assuming that the drinking culture is fairly similar both sides of the Irish Sea. First drink I ever remember having was a stubby 'Belgian' beer from Tesco, the 2.6% kind of thing they do in big boxes - think i was probably about 13 or so at the time. My parents would let me have one every once in a blue moon with dinner and the like. First time I got drunk was probably 14-15, worst hangover I've ever had, or at least it's up there, high school friend's parents would have an annual piss-up in their village and I got invited along a couple of times, but that was the only time I ever got drunk until I neared 17/18, and now here I am in the 20s, with a bit of a wiser head on my shoulders lol. I'm all for getting drunk so long as people know their limits and accept the effects and consequences that may or may not ensue, whatever they may be, comical or serious.

big nights at my university are literally Wed -Saturdays, but in reality you can find someone any day of the week to have a drink.

Weds on campus are $1 beers- literally the whole campus goes.
